"BELL" products - the automotive accessory brand of choice for Wal-Mart, Your Source For Cheap Plastic Crap - makes something LIKE this. It's designed to look like built-in center-roof-mounted storage cubbies. Apparently, it just Velcros to the ceiling, and you can add all sorts of little cubbies.

I am extremely skeptical about the quality of that item, however, just because I know that Bell makes total crap. I mean, their change dispenser is okay, but their compass was the biggest waste of $30 I've ever spent. (It had north and south right, but east and west were backwards. -_- )

As for the shelf...no DOORS?! And what, you just have all your crap raining down on you every time you drive uphill? Speaking as the friend of a guy who got his kneecap shattered by an iPod when he was rear-ended, I would NOT want that setup in my particular vehicle, since I have this thing about getting hit in the face with heavy objects.

Cool concept, though...just needs some finishing touches.

As far as stuff landing on you going up a hill... I have one in another car and it has about a one inch lip in the front and back. Stuff might slide a bit on a turn, but I've never had anything fall out of it.

 

Looks like an excuse for clutter. I prefer a lean, clean, mean look for my cab.

i felt the same way... looks like crap and that's not the look i want when im going uphill and a rubber duck hits my head

 

ihad one of the jcw shelves in the gaarge from a 98 dakota.just slight mod of the brackets and i have been using it since oct.06.great place for sunglasses,door opener,ezpass(pa turnpike). have yet to have anything fall out going uphill.

Im kinda ____ed at the seller of this item...I bid a considerable amount for this item, plus shipping is $26!...my bid didnt even meet his reserve price,
