Default parkinglights and interior lights dont work...help!!FIXED!!!

OK, last night when i got off work, started on my way home, i noticed that when i turned my lights on, that the parking lights didnt come on, then the interior lights, all the dash lights, did not come one . So this morning i checked the fuses, all good. went and talked to a freind who thinks its a relay, but i got no idea where the parking light control relay would be?

Anyone else know anything to help me???

could be the relay or the actual switch. I know that you have aftermarket headlights & have cycled thru a number of various lighting options with foglights. Be sure to check all of your wiring around the headlights and any wiring going to or from the headlights for additional lighting.

i hope its not the actual switch!!! lol, that would suck!!! All my fog lights went tapped into the lighting system, so i guess that rules them out, however, you stated about my swapping of headlights alot. SO , i had to splice into the prarking light wire harness to get power to the halos and LEDs in the headlight assemblys. hum, this really bites!!!

BTW thanks for the advice hotweelz4me!!!

i checked in there, lol. I was looking anything that related parking lights and dash lights toghether. I assume that they are in the same circuit since when the parking lights come on, the dash lights come one. Ill use that pic and check again before i go to work.

Thanks again man!!!!

I am guessing you checked both the I/P fuses and the engine compartment fuses right?

I know this sounds stupid but have you tried adjusting the Rheostat (the interior light dimmer). I know when I installed my halo headlamps, all my interior lights went completely out, after several minutes of being completely ____ed I tried it and the interior lights were working again. I must have accidently moved it or something cause I know I didn't purposely do it.

Ill check the I/P fises again since you recomended it!!! Thanks for the help Ghost_1!!!!!!!!!!

All of your needed wiring diagrams are located in the Electrical Guide under: Vehicles, xB Home. Save the folder to your computer and then you will have all the electrical info in PDF!

If it's not a fuse, and unless one of your wire taps got grounded out, the only other thing it might be is a disconnected or faulty control stalk. If it is bad you should be able to pick up a used one off a wrecked xB for under 30 bucks. Good luck and keep us posted of what it turns out to be!

I got the wiring diagrams from here on SL. After following the diagram, i think the switch on the steering colum is the cause, but till i get out of work, i cant tell. ill keep yall informed. I guess with 89,000 miles, and lots of night driving, the contacts might be worn out!!!

I'm seriously thinking switch also. Just locate one on www.car-part.com and have them ship it to you from a wrecking yard.
Have you priced a new one from one of the discount Toyota parts places here on SL? I'm curious as heck what they'd want for one? Keep me posted please?

I didn't actually search for the part. I figure if you find a yard that's near you that has an xB you could call them and ask what they want for that assm.

That'll work. The more I think about it that's the only real weak link that would cause it not to work. Plus those 2 circuits are connected so it makes sense.

Typically, electrical parts are non-refundable. YMMV.
