why such low hp numbers? 150hp ON a POS still isnt going to beat much out there. because i consider a sleeper a car that looks stock or semi stock on the outside and has either tons of HP or can at least hold its own against faster cars.

Exactly what i was thinking... so push those numbers up to about 240 or so, and keep it looking completely stock and there you go!

Hmm i think that looks too fancy... it could be quick.

Now how bout a turbocharged Kia? or maybe even the Chevy Aveo? No one would ever suspect those!

Depends on who you're planning to sleep with. You would need about 400 rwhp to match with my 93 RX-7:D

I would say at least 35 to 51 horsies galloping around the mulberry bushes in the happy tree friends beloved garden.

Seriously though: Engine Swap w/turbo or supercharger. A serious sleeper would be able to beat a stock Z06 in my opinion.

I'm not sure, but with 140hp four you should be able to beat all the stock
four cars that cost under 17,000. Maybe even a stock TC which by the way
costs over 17 now with taxes and all.

True, but I don't think that qualifies as a sleeper. All those cars try to race us now, me anyway.

A true sleeper is also a car that doesn't look like it would be worthy of speed. Take a Mustang. If someone builds one strong enough to eat up Corvettes and whatever, it's still not a sleeper because it is expected to be fast anyway. Now take a Honda Civic. Those things have just been small eco people haulers for years. That is until the tuner market went nuts with parts for them. Now they can eat up Mustangs, Corvettes, etc. That's a sleeper because no one expects them to be that fast.

i agree with this typ of def. for a sleeper.
someone above mentioned an RX-7...never a sleer car...too sporty from the start.

now take a mini van with a turbo that can do 11's in the 1/4...that is a sleeper!!

you have a good question...it is a box that could put it in the sleeper category. now it just needs lots of power.
i have about 150 right now.
it is a much quicker ride, but still not into the sleeper realm.
i can hang with many cars, but not sports cars. for me to consider it a sleeper i would need to hang with sports car.

about 180-200 hp would be good enough for such a light car...

My '90 Plymouth Laser RS was a sleeper.... it had stock rims, fading paint, and a JDM 4g63t engine in it....estimated 260 crank HP....it was fun!!! too bad that block was weak...

I say anything that doesn't look like it should be fast, but is...

a 69 rusted out roadrunner with a fresh 440 and 6pack I'd call a sleeper cause it would look like junk and run like hell..
