Default Price for Scion

I thought that all dealers had to sell the Scions at a fixed price? I got one today and they had a discount of $300.00. I was pleasantly surprised, but I thought Toyota mandated the fixed prices for all dealers?

It is suposed to be a fixed price, do you know for what reason it was discounted?

From what I understand Scion dealers have to sell at a fixed no-haggle price, but they don't have to sell at the "official" Scion price. Toyota can't force them to sell at any particular price, or they'll violate price-fixing laws.

There are several other threads on the topic under "Dealer Experiences" where the actual dealership employees explain it much better ... I've seen dealerships sell *above* MSRP, especially options and accessories, but this is the first I've heard of a discount.

The only way that I have heard you can discount is on a slow moving car. If a dealer has a bunch of a certain color they can discount them to move them off the lot. All of that color would have to be available at that discount price for a set amount of time. Theres a little more to it than that, but thats the jist of it.
