Default Protecting Box in Parking Lots

What are some of the extremes you've gone to when parking the XB.

The reason I say this in NJ most people dont care when parking. They will open their door into your car and walk away. I'm very careful where I park.

Also in the last year i've had 2 hit and runs and was left to fix damage on my own. Really sucks and would love to get my hands on their neck and .... sorry got carried away- still get upset when thinking of it.

I park in the spot which is all the way out, and when I do that, I take up 4 spots.

Hook your car battery up to your frame when it's parked.

build a 10 foot tall brick wall around the car everytime I park, or park next to Ken and hope they touch his car first :D

In Bergen County NJ its just a bunch of self important people and no one gives a crap about your car or gas mileage, etc. I see cars 3 times more expensive than mine and they park like they don't care because they don't!

Leasing is big too. Just turn it in and get a new one.

Its really a overrated area but it is so close to NYC so it has appeal.

Its a scmuck fest here and I gotta move soon.

Yeah, I love the people that do that.

I wouldn't suggest it because it draws attention to your car.

Its antagonistic and you will probable suffer the consequences.

I agree with Oak Toddler 100%.

Now I'm no angel now, but in my younger days I would have spit either on your windshield or your door handle. The last thing you want to do is draw more attention to your car by parking like a self-important *****. And again, that was in my younger days.

Now, I only spit on the cars owned by the ****** who park in H/C stalls without placards.

umm, I do it when the closest car to me is about 40 spots down from me. I'm like all the way back with employees.

I'm always almost the first to park in the lot at work, so I park in one of the slots on the far side of the lot that's wider because the nearer ones are handicapped parking and they just make 'em that wide the whole length of the lot. I also park in front of a light post, facing out, so that it's protected from behind. I do get a little irked if I leave at noon and when I come back someone's taken MY ;^) parking spot! I also park out in the last third of store parking lots so that I'm not in where all the idiots park, but not so far out that I'm exposed on the other side. Next to a shopping cart stall is good too, but on the side away from the store. Finally, I put strips on side of the Camry that line up with the xB so when they're parked together in the garage they won't bash doors together . . . .

i'm a corner spot *****, if i can park to where there's only one person parking next to me , i'm fine. i'll get as close as possible to the side that no one can park in (because it's at the corner, next to sidewalk,etc....

about the spitting thing, yeah i hate when people park in more than one spot on purpose. i spit my gum out at a car the other day at Chuck E Cheese , and the guy was still in the car! good thing i have no aim!

I get to park in the w i d e Handicap spots because of my wifes disability. Plus they are up front so I can sit out front and keep a watchful eye out for possible tampering.

hayalex6... It wouldn't have mattered to me if you took up 4 out of 5 spots in a parking lot right next to the door or 4 out of 5 million spots in the far reaches of the lot. I spit out of principal, not convenience.

Seriously, it is about self-important people who think that their property is more important than the next persons. Same vein is the ****** who park in handicap spots just because it is convenient to them.

The reality is, the same thing can be accomplished by parking far out in the lot without taking up more than one space.

Oh, and my last spitting incident was when the wife and I came out of a movie theater. Some jerk in an F250 had parked extremely crooked in the stall next to my wife's xB. Not only was his tire over the line, there was only about 8"-10" between his bed and the back of my wife's car. She even had a hard time backing out because of how far his truck encroached on her space. Not to mention the fact that he was spilling motor oil out of the truck bed all over the ground.

keep a sraybottle of paint remover in your storage box in the back.. both are fairly cheap at the home depot... the stripper will remove the paint in a matter of minutes, perfect time to make your gettaway. when someone encroaches on your space, give them a nice metal smiley on their hood... personally i like to hit the hood, fender, door, rear Qpannel and trunk, this ensures that they will need to get their whole car repainted.... J/K that's vandalism.. or am I, park like an a-hole and find out. personally i either park where i can see the box at all times if i run into a store, or i park FAR away at the end of the lot and hoof it... only applies to shopping, at work everyone knows better then to even get close to my box

I have this proven theory. No matter how far away from everyone else you park. SOMEONE will park next to you. I have proven this to my gf many times at the mall.

I was at Ocean City, and parked next to this van that was right on the line, so the car in front of me moved, and a jeep pulled into the space I was just in. So I was sitting in my car and watched as the Van owners got in it to I guess change, and they opened the passenger door right onto the fender of the Jeep. What made it worse is they left it on there, and the owners wife was a bigger older chic, so she was leaning on the door as it was resting on this Jeep.
........... People just don't pay enough attention or care about other people.
