Default pulled over for windows and exhaust

I got pulled over tonight, the cop said my exhaust was illegal and my windows were too dark. i had my front ones down. so it was factory tint he was complaining about. he didnt have a light meter though. so i need to goto the dmv or soemthing he said to have them check it.

he also said my exhaust was too loud. its a GReddy SP2 with a dc sports header and aem intake. so they got to check that too i guess.

anyone else have these problems yet? my exhaust doesnt seem much louder than factory. ill have to look into it and stuff tomorow. im gonna go play halo2 now.

but any suggestions would be good

Well you're gonna beat the window tint thing for the rear windows, but the front 2 might give you problems.

That is definately a cop on a power trip. I had a civic a while back that had legal tint and this cop gave me shnizzle about one night. It was dusk so it looked a lot darker then it was. I told him to get off my case its legal and he was like I am calling the officer with the light meter and you are getting a ticket. I had nothing to do so I sipped on my mocha while the rectum inspector and his buddy put their meter all over the car to find a dark spot. Then when they started looking over the car for something else to write me up for I laughed and said you guys are pathetic you can look all you want but you cant get me for nothing except oops that coffee spill on your nice white cruiser hhehehe. After about 45 min and a mocha and a muffin they decided they didnt have anything on me.
so then it went like this
RI: I am going to write you a warning.
Me: For what?
RI: For dark tint.
Me: Call your seargent, you have wasted 45 min of my time and this is turning into a prime case of harrassment. Your just jealous you dont have a ride as fine as mine.
RI: I dont need to call my seargent I am writing you a warning and thats that and if you give me any more lip I will arrest you.
(now is a good time to tell you I shoot with a bunch of the local and state patrol near me and I know what my rights are  )
Me: Start writing but this one is going to cost you. I start to dial 911 which gets his attention.
RI: who are you calling?
Me: 911 I need to report a case of police harassment. And your badge number is please?
RI: Mumbles some police jargon in his radio but obvious his seargent is on the way.

end result was the sargent showed up and starting asking him what the deal was, got out his meter checked the car, looked it over appologised to me profusely for wasting over an hour of my time and proceeded to verbally rip I am assuming this new rookie a new ___ hehehe.

needless to say I avoid that city now but what a great time it was to watch him squirm.

I would still go to IAD if I were you. 45 minutes for a traffic enforcement IS excessive. Asking to see the Suppervisor and refusing is prolly a violation of his dept's General Orders and Maunal of Rules.

And yes, I'm in the same line of work. BUT, I have better things to do and my stops don't take 45 minutes. And I have a better understanding of the Vehicle Code.

I've heard that one too. If the exhaust isn't factory it's illegal.

i tried looking at wisconsin laws to find whats allowed and not, it just says anything that is louder than factory isnt allowed. its pretty vague. how are you suppose to judge if its above factory and hand a ticket out?

im going to email sema and see what they say.

Did the cop have a decible meter? If not then you should beat that ticket. They have to prove the exhaust is too loud and if there is no decible reading then it is bull____.

As for the rear windows, have your dealer write you out something saying that the tint is stock from the factory and you should walk away free and clear on both.

Just wondering, how much was the ticket for the exhaust? I think in PA its not that much (under $50) and they dont even check to see if you changed the exhaust. I'm not sure though.

Alot of states have very vague laws about exhaust. These laws are basically unenforcable. Most of the time as long as your not running straight pipes, they can't do much. Unless it like Ca. w/ the 90db rule.

if the law states anything louder than stock i'm pretty sure whether the cop was a dick or not he's probably not so dumb as to not know what 90% of aftermarket exhaust look and sound like. just my 2 cents. and i can just about guarantee you will get screwed with the front tint.

i didnt get a ticket because he had no way of proving the tint was illegal and the exhaust i got a warning. it says the violation must be corrected at once. all future operations without corrections are illegal

i stopped at the window tint place we have here and they metered it for me, the sides came to 27% and the front was 18% i think. so they are both illegal. but he says sicne the rears are factory they cant ticket me for it. but the fronts they can. so ill wait until i get a actual ticket before doing anything.

i think the vehicle looks ugly with the fronts the way they come stock

27% blocking or 27% thru? so id assume its 30 then and you put 20 on the front? almost al;l states allow tint on the rears. but i may be wrong

i tried asking at scion.com
bob was useless

Bob: How may I help you today?
kirby: i was wondering what the tint percentage is on the windows of the scion xB
kirby: i got pulled over for factory tint last night
Bob: The windows are the only ones that are tinted.
Bob: From the factory.
kirby: yes but whats the percent of tint on those windows. how much light does it let through
Bob: I have to look that up, hang on...
Bob: The privacy glass in the xB side and rear windows are 91-95 % UV-cut
kirby: whats the percentage of light let through then?
kirby: still there?
Bob: The % is 91-95 % UV-cut
