Default Question for All

Would buy a an ELECTRIC SCION?? (If they offered it?)

I saw "Who Killed the Electric Car" and you can convert your car to electric. It gets more horsepower than the standard Scion, and gets about 150 miles per charge.

Would you buy a Hybrid Scion?

The cost alone makes it a big no for me. Plus I like taking long trips and going to shows that are more than 200 miles away.

The problem has been the initial cost and the short life span of the battery.

I would convert my own if I knew where to buy the hardware. One of the key parts is the computer and software to manage the system, though. A Mac Mini would do well. But yes, I would do it if there were kits available.

the kit or option from a dealer would have to be 3k or so to get me to spend the extra. but at the current extra 20k+ to get an electric car to go 250-300 miles on a single charge, no way.

Isn't the prius engine/motor based on the same engine? If they could make a hybrid xB with a system designed similar to the prius I'd buy it if they kept it close to 18k. Except I wouldnt want it with the new body style. I guess for now I'll just have to drive carefull and get 35-40 with what I got. My thought is that even if Toyota could do it, they wouldn't because they wouldn't it want to outsell the prius.

Have you seen the Movie "Who Killed the Electric Car"? In it they explain that the battery will out live the cars, that you CAN convert your current car, you can get about 200 miles to a charge, which is more more than most people drive in a week. Plus you can charge at home in any outlet.

THE BEST PART IS, it would cost 60 cents a gallon vs 3.00 a gallon.

it would be a perfect conversion for me, living only 10 miles from work I could drive a week on one charge.

You drive 3 blocks.

"could" being the operative word.

I currently do when I have somewhere to go at lunch.

I'd buy a Hybrid Scion in a heartbeat.
If there was a low-cost hybrid marketed to "20-Somethings" with a design that set it apart, that thing would sell like proverbial hotcakes!
