I was looking to create a custom box for speakers from my current atroage area in the cargo area. I had to think about what to do with the spare tire. Then the other day I was driving behind an H2 when it dawned on me. I could create a wheel mount (i.e. Honda CR-V) with a slick looking cover (i.e. Hummer). Any problems? I foresee the weight on the rear hatch may not be able to hold. Other than that I think it could work if done properly. Anyone know of what people have done to gain this space w/out eliminating having the spare if needed.

Looking for some input for this.

That kind of mod is almost impossible to do on doors that open upward like ours do. I mean, you could do it, but how would you hold the door open each time ?? Side opening door might work, though.
