about 1 1/16"
If you use a 1" flat plug in the hole and roll a thick 1" OD grommet over the lip of the plug from inside the gate, the 1" plug will stay snug. Bead a little silicone around the edge of the grommet, between the rubber and metal to create a watertight seal.
...hope this helps.

I personally don't use it. If I can get rid of it and cover the hole in a clean way, I'd do it. I think the rear would look nice without it.

The rear window does not get (that) dirty, so the wiper is useless. It also cleans up the back a bit, less clutter.

I couldn't agree more!
Funny, I just took mine off today. I use Rain-X on the rear window anyway, and any water that hits it just sliiiiides right off!
And it just looks MUCH cleaner!

It doesn't clean well, the area that it does wipe is too small to be useful, it gets in the way while washing the car, and it rattles like crazy when the stereo is cranking.

I used a one inch plug. I bent the prongs out to hold it in place and used sunroof sealant to seal it in place.

I still have my wiper but when I do remove it I am going to use a "**** hole cover"
Any plumbing supply or Home depot has them they are Stainless steel covers that they use on kitchen sinks when you dont have a spray atachment or air gap for a dish washer.
