Repair manuals?

Has anyone had any luck finding repair manuals for the xB?

i usually use TIS which is an online resource... but it costs money to access for the general public.

the actual books and stuff are very expensive... even most toyota dealerships just use TIS instead.

what do you need?

xB repair manuals are available from Toyota (or your dealer can order) in either paper form (about $160) or electronic versions (price depends on how long it takes you to find and D/L the documents - cheap if you can do it all in 24 hours, not so cheap if it takes you longer).

The manual for the electrical systems is available here on ScionLife (look in the xB ICE forum), and a searchable version of the repair manual is available to ScionLife premium members in the tech section.

BUT... you have a PM...

I bought it in downloadable PDF format for $14.95. It's 1,973 pages!!

What's the deal with these manuals from "softwaredesignz"? From the name, I assume they're pirated editions, no?

Download and burn with a DVD Decrypter onto a cd, only way it will work.

Ur welcome.

RE: softwaredesignz

(1) They MAY be pirated, or
(2) They MAY not be the actual Scion/Toyota manuals, and
(3) They MAY be some odd proprietary software that is not cross-platform.

I've dropped them a note asking.

True Tom, I'm just passing along what I found from being bored and searching the net. For me it worked using a dvd decrypter.

Is your software "Windoze Only" or is it more universal using something
like Adobe PDF format or at least running something Javascript based?

You can find some on Ebay. search "scion xb repair manual" and you will find some.

Tomas 05-07-2007 02:34 AM

Yeah, those from toyotanation are Proprietary "nero" burn files for Windows machines with the Nero application. http://www.nero.com/enu/catalog.html

I fail to understand why people do not use "standard" formats instead of proprietary formats if they are trying to "share" something. http://tijil.org/shakehead.gif

Yea it was a pain to turn it into a cd.

Those ebay ones r like the link I posted, someone just copied the repair manual cd a bunch of times n is makeing off it. Bought one for my pop's matirx n if was a poorly copied cd, but had everything on it.

Thank you for the link. I was able to mount the file with Alcohol 120. No burning needed.

Ur welcome.

It downloaded as a disk image, which clicked open to a couple dozen PDF files comprising the manual. No need for any special software or burning, at least not with a Mac.
It's for the xA. Is there a way for people to get a free one for the xB? I already downloaded one for the xB, but I think it came from my premium paid membership in http://www.tundrasolutions.com.

DriverXa 05-07-2007 07:34 PM

it should be when u scroll down.

egg- http://d01.megashares.com/?d01=38bc446

I'm runnin xp at the moment so the dvd decrypter worked 4 me on that system.

Tomas 05-07-2007 08:04 PM

My largest problem with the megashares downloads is getting a complete download - closest I've gotten is 135MB of a 138.3MB file. :(

Thanks Driverxa, very cool!

DriverXa 05-08-2007 03:59 AM

No problem.

That sux Tom u can't get the full dload. Took me quite afew tries before I got the dload plus afew cds before I got the manual to work. Probably more trouble then it was worth, but I had time to burn.

Tomas 05-08-2007 04:29 AM

I managed to suck the xA manual out of there - I'll eventually try for the others, too. Took 4 tries. :(

Late follow-up to Tomas: the $14.95 xB download from softwaredesignz IS indeed a .pdf file, masqueraded by a vendor-made viewer. The pdf is 100% viewable by any Adobe Reader/Acrobat. The xA version is $10 more.
