honda element, pt cruiser, chevy hhr, and you forgot the chevy aveo, honda fit, nissan versa,

they are all rivals in the sense that they are selling the same type of car to roughly the same type of market.

don't know how the altima got in there. mid-size sedan versus sub-compact urban people mover.

But personally, who would our BIGGEST rival be? Kinda like Bart and Sideshow Bob, or UCLA and USC, or the Crips and Bloods, or George Bush and the American People.

the tc's rival is anything with four wheels, we must race them all and drive crazy like maniacs on public roads.

i voted cruiser, because it is most like our vehicle and the one that can at least come relatively close in sales with the xb...

element, is a bit bigger in overall size
hhr is just well UGLY as SIN
h2 is a full size SUV
mercede not the same price range (within reason)
altima is a different style of vehicle compeltely

He is really unhappy with his PT 'cause it's in the shop all the time and he almost cried when I told him Stubby's only been in the shop for oil changes . . . .

That is sad the older guy was sneered at but the kids showing it. I am 65 and own a 2008 xB. It is a great vehicle for an old fart. I don't have the money those blue hairs driving their Caddies. have to have something inexpensive and RELIABLE!!!!

dude, your 65 and have a beavis and butthead avatar. sweet.
anyways, back on topic, im wondering why some of these cars are on the rival list, an altima, mercedes? although an element is a bigger vehicle, i would say its a rival since alot of people confuse the xb with it, or people always ask me, did you ever think of buying an element when you purchased your xb? NO!

what, are you kidding? based on sheer rage-inducing foaming-at-the-mouth bitterness, our rival is a little closer to home. if you want to see REAL rivalry, just get into a discussion about the gen 2 xB.

this is all just part of scion's plan to be the only car company on earth where all the model-owners despise one another.

xA owners hate because their car was supposed to be the popular one, but is constantly lost in the right-angled shadow of its more-popular siblings;
xB1 owners hate because their car was revolutionary, iconic, totally different, and annihilated for no good reason;
xB2 owners hate because all the gen 1 owners hate them ;
xD owners hate because somewhere out there is a Fit with a better options package; and
tC owners are generally 16, and hate everyone on principle.

You just don't get this kind of intensity with other car brands!

I would say the closest competition is the HHR but the honda element takes a close second as far as rivalry goes

oh the hhr is far from competition!!!I know plenty of dealership owners, with my dad being in it and knowing at least 3/4 of all major dealerships, and all chevy dealerships. The HHR sucks, has not sold and will not sell. The biggest competition would be in fleet sales... Where if I am not mistaken, Scion does not market the xb as such (although we have seen them used in that manner, such as my universities maintenance crew has three xb1's)

I have a Honda friend who has an Element and we are always asking each other what we have done to our "Boxes" lately...
