roof rack
There are Thule and Yakima roof racks available. I'm thinking of getting a Yakima roof rack. If you are gonna get a Yakima, you need to get the Q Towers with the right clips. Check www.yakima.com for more info (customized by car). It'll cost about 200 for the basic roof rack system, then I'm guessing...another 50-100 bucks for the ski attachments.
I bought a roof rack for my 2004 white xA... After dealer installed it, I drove home thinking there was something wrong with my stereo, i couldn't get rid of this high pitched whine that disappeared when i stopped to really listen for it!! It turns out it is the roof rack... (the whine gets louder & higher pitched the faster you travel...) Also, one of the rubber "footing pads" that are not really attatched to the brackets is already missing.....
I really wanted to have a permanent, multi-use (for kayak, baggage, wood, etc) roof rack that i could leave on, but that's not what i got... I wouldn't reccommend the one i got ( i think it was approx $150 added to loan amount...) Altough it is easy to install, and came with keys, It is WAY too noisy to leave on all the time....
