rpms at 65 mph
Yes 4K at 80 mph with a 5 speed is right on...I am not exactly sure what the RPM is at 65 mph because I live in CA and on the freeways here you are either stopped in traffic or hauling butt when it is clear and 65 is just too slow...
Mine runs exactly 3k at 60MPH so your 3100RPM at 65MPH sounds right on. I also have a 5sp. 5th is geared really close to 4th so when you shift up to 5th the RPMs dont come down that much. Your tranny seems normal so I wouldnt worry about it at all. The trick here is to see what the RPMs are at 110mph. Let me know if you ever get it to go that fast....
Well, here's about the 5th ot 6th time I've posted this little block of infotmation...
Code:
====
(tire rev per mile) * (final ratio) * (top gear ratio) = (engine RPM at 60MPH)
For the stock xB automatic those numbers are:
880 * 4.15 * 0.70 = 2556.4 RPM
====
Just using the stock tire size, the differential ratio, and the top gear ratios of
the xB with manual or auto transmission I come out with these figures, plus
or minus maybe 10 RPM...
AUTOMATIC:
2560 RPM @ 60 MPH
2990 RPM @ 70 MPH
MANUAL:
3070 RPM @ 60 MPH
3580 RPM @ 70 MPH
====
Gear / Ratio C150 5MT U340E 4AT
1st 3.54:1 2.84:1
2nd 1.90:1 1.55:1
3rd 1.31:1 1.00:1
4th 0.96:1 0.70:1
5th 0.81:1 –
Reverse 3.25:1 2.34:1
Final Drive 4.31:1 4.15:1
Stock tire revolutions per mile = ~880 (Varies by tire make, size, wear, etc.)
The torque converter is a locking torque converter that locks (no slippage)
while cruising in either 3rd or 4th gear for highway efficiency.

===> An auto with "OD off" is one that cannot shift into 4th gear - in other words it stays in 3rd. <===
(That's ~3650 RPM at 60 MPH...)
BTW, an auto with "OD off" (third gear) and a stick in 4th gear are almost identical RPMs at 60MPH:
Auto (3rd): 3652 RPM
Stick (4th): 3641 RPM
(An auto in 2nd will almost redline at 60...

At just over 80, my Box's preferred cruising speed, I'm turning just about 3250. To hit 4K, I'm pushing a solid 90+.
Dropping the O/D at freeway speeds brings the rpms up about 1500.

see were all getting better i put the "manuel" there to see if anyone noticed... j/k i get them confused, btw a 5 speed auto and a 6 speed manual would really be the way to go... not like this is the first time this is stated well any way still good for the price its at
later guys
