Default Second dome light

Hi,
I just added a second dome light over the front seats. It is positioned so that the light shines into the driver's lap and down into the foot well. I just spliced into the cables going to the original light. Works well.

That's real clean looking. I used one from a VW.

Nice! The xB could have really used a map light from the factory.

i guess that i did mine the hard way i went to oznium and orderd 10 of the led lights in orange. i have 2 over front seats, then 2 above the rear seats, then 2 in a car club sign above my c-pillar brace and then 4 across the back of the hatch and they are wired up to a switch i put in that same hump area that you put the new dome light in

BTW, back on topic: if anyone is looking for more light over the stock dome (and let's face it, who isn't?), Oznium makes a plug-and-play 16-LED replacement that's Absolutely. Freaking. Fantastic. I have the green one, and I can light up other people's interiors with that business.

I would suggest any color other than red (which basically turns the car into a darkroom...not too useful if you're looking for something in the footwell), with the caveat that white is basically asking for your retinas to be burned out.

Having said that, a second dome light is FREAKING AWESOME. :D How hard is the headliner to remove? I'd be worried about damaging it - that's like a $900 part, innit?

it was not that hard but it is alot of poop to take out..you need to take out the sunvisors the clips the rearview mirror the o-poop handels and the 4 round tabs all the pillars a,b,c and then you just pull down the rubber liners around all the doors and the rear hatch.

it sounds complecated but it realy is not

Good job !! I did the write-up in the tech section for installing the second dome light in the rear over the cargo area. You have a good idea there.

Let me ask you:

How did you install it to the head liner? Did you just tap into the cross brace support that I think is in that area?
