Default Selling the box?

I did a search, but came up with over 12,000 results that I did not want to page through. I am moving and may no longer be able to afford owning a vehicle. *If* I were to sell my Xb, what would be the best way to get the most money? I have only paid 13 months of my 60 month loan. I am 98% positive that I owe more than the "blue book" values I found on-line. I am not sure how accurate that is though. I have not done any mods, so it is pretty bare. I my box, but I am afraid it might come to this.

Thanks...I looked on car soup and when I tried to get the value, it said: Based upon currently marketed vehicles, we cannot give you an accurate market value estimate.

Annoying!

www.ebaymotors.com is a good route to take. Or try putting it in the want-ads or whatever they are called in your area.

Try CarMax (www.carmax.com) if there is one available by your area. Low pressure appraisal and you obtain an appraisal document that's good for 7-days or 300 miles (which ever comes first)...policy may have change since I traded in a vehicle at CarMax.

Thanks! I will keep these in mind if the inevitable comes. I have never sold a car, I usually drive them until they are falling apart.

The xB is low maintenance and practical vehicle. I can't think of any econoboxes from Hyundai, Kia, or Toyota-Yaris that's comparable to the xB. Hope things work out.

1st .... call who ever your have your box financed through and get the exact pay off amount. That will give you something to go off of.

2nd ... you are in luck, the Scions hold a great re-sale value. Unlike say .. Hyundia.

3rd ... try a local sale. You may want to get a CarFax report and carry it with you. Go to a local vinyl shop and have them cut some for sale vinyls for you. Have a nice large one cut for the hatch window .. and some smaller ones for the rear quater windows. Just list the basics ... what year ... how many miles ... possibly a price ... and your phone number.

A private sale will get you better results. Selling back to the dealership with only a years payments under you belt is only going to leave you in the hole. It usually takes 3 years to break even in a financed car loan.

Good luck, and i hope you dont have to sell it.

Not sure about other areas, but our local newspaper is affiliated with cars.com. I just put mine up for sale on there and it was so easy. Pay $20 to the paper, and they post it in print and on cars.com. Or pay $55 to cars.com and they run a sweet looking ad with photos until it sells or get a 90 day money back guarantee. Anyways, that's the route I'm taking. No bites yet, but it's still early in the game. Best wishes.
