The worst part about these xbs is the metal is so damn thin you cant really weld to them without warping it a little. And when you need about 400 welds on the trunk and 30 on each handle it takes forever and still warps. Would have turned out alot better.

I wish it was a old car made with real steel.

i agree, i wish the metal was beter to work with.
you did a lot of work to the xb, and i bet it will look 10x better when you get around to wet sanding it (it will solve a lot of the comments aboutit looking dull/fuzzy)

i think most issues are from the way this thread was posted. did you give permission to post the pics of you ride. if so the poster should have gave a better story to go with the pics.
as the current story was giving the idea it was finished, but you are saying there was still more to go.
i can't wait to see it 100% finished (bags, rims, painted again....)
keep up the hard work, let us know when your NJ shop will be open (what will you be able to do there???)

tis is your story
*note* this isn't my car, it is a buddy of mine that is moving soon, he has 20's but they arn't on in the pics. you all know him as smartass

sorry that it is dirty, it rained the night before
it does not say much, hence the comments.

the real story

Alright everyone heres the deal with it all...

The car was just painted. I havent even washed it yet. Im letting it cure for about a week before I do crazy on it. I am goign to wetsand and buff the entire car.

The paint is a cardinal red with a red pearl. It shines alot in teh sun and looks very dull in the dark.

The license plate box is frenched is deep becuase I used the factory latch button on it.

I didnt put a kit on becuase Im bagging it and dont want to lower my car with body panels. I want it to be on the grounf with stock body.

I am still adding a silver pinstripe and some graffix once the paint cures

The OEM spoiler will be going on soon

I did all the work myself the welding/frenchinh body and paint. Im not the best at it but hey I did it all. I had my friend paint it becuase I was to busy moving to NJ and I think I am going to switch to a different color once I get set up up in NJ.

I left the wiper sprayer becuase I didnt have time to get rid of it and repaint it.

The tape on the back was where I painted the black over again to match the line up.

You have to see it in person to see what the color really looks like. Its a awsome color when its in the sun.
takes away a lot of negative comments (i would not have said some of the things knowing it was still being worked on...)

can you see the difference what a better story can do....

Looks cool!!! Would look better if you got a BOP xB and took out the red and repalced itwith the blue and shave it.

How do you open the doors without door handles?

door popper (remote controlled)
or window controllers (roll down the window from a remote control) then use the inside handle.

The people who are being picky about this custom job i want to see thier xb's!!!!! Man I haven't seen a custom job that good by anyone who wasn't professionally sponsored. It looked like it took a whole lot of work and I doubt most people would put forth that much off an effort. I think that it looks great, you must be real excited to have an xB like that.

I meant black on top and BOP on the bottom. But I like the BOP and Cobalt Blue idea.

i dont know why you would have a flat looking paint on the bottom and have metallic on top should have done either both metallic or both flat ... other than that i defintely apprieciate the work done im going through the shaving process as well .

Thanks Man for saying this.

Some of the statements on this thread are just plain cruel. I very hurriedly took these pictures and must admit; while I was taking them it never occurred to me they would be critiqued with such critical eyes. I was only trying to focus on the modifications done to the car. This car was fresh out of the paint shop and it had been raining.

It is one hot xB if you see it in person, but just like my Lava it is not perfect. The owner is very particular with his cars and I’m sure he was crushed to read these comments especially since you can see it is work in progress. All the tape was not even removed. Before I left the painter took to car back into the shop and was working on it.

Sorry Smartass if I misrepresented your car with the pictures I took. You owe no apologies. I saw the pictures of your Eclipse. When your xB is finished it will be the envy of a lot of us Scion owners.

PS: Yes Will I’m old but I do know how to photo chop but there was no necessity to do it on this occasion
the way it was posted, it came across as a finished product (which is now found to be false).
if it was finished the paint looked bad.
the metal work to shave it was good but the paint (the most visable part) was rough.

i too liked the work on his other car, which shocked me to see the xb like that.

again if the story of the pics came with the pics, it would not have been critiqued so harshly.
just because you knew the story of the car does not mean all of us do!!

the bottom has tons of metal flack in it as does the top.

and how did I bring it in as a finished car, you should beable to tell just by seeing the tape still on the car, all I was suppose to do was put up the pics while he was moving

Geez, you guys are harsh. I don't think Will's post said it was finished. And I don't think that was the point.

Looks nice to me. But remind me not to post pics of my box up here. I'd hate to see what you guys would say about it.

it also did not say there was work still to be done....
the pics gave a before/after feel. after pics are most often finished products. again a beter story would have prevented assuming.

(side note: every thread that has a 'look at this' with pics, will be critisized. unless there are no pics, then poeple will cry for pics.)
