Default Should I get a Scion?

Hello, I'm new the fourms and new to Scion. I stopped by the Scion dealership with my friend today because he wanted to check out the tC. I'm 6'3" so the tC is out of the question, but I saw and sat in a xB. I think they look really cool.

I drive a 1996 chevy suburban at the moment, it's pretty slow but it can pretty much keep up with a 2000 I4 camery. Im worried about the xB having only 108 hp. Is it really slow, or it decently drivable, I don't want anything slower than my burban.

I havent ridden in driven an xB yet, so I want to know how they drive and feel on the road. Any comments would be great. Thanks!

get a 5 speed XB and you will be fine. Its plenty of speed, just dont expect to tow anything. I have a 5 speed xb and its got more room inside than my moms landcruiser :/

There's no hurt in test driving the xB. I remember test driving one months before I actually bought mine only because I was curious too. The xB does have some surprising pep and is very nimble. But it won't pull like your suburban. These are two different animals.

You might find that you can still keep the suburban but drive the xB more for regular city commuting. Go out when you have an hour to kill and test drive it.. that's the best way you'd really find out.

Welcome to the forum!

just do what my friends and i did: bring a pretty female friend who can talk and flirt really good and distract the man. request the nice man let you get on the highway with their brand spanking new xB----and keep going til you hit 80+ or whatever and scare the product specialist... hahahahahahahaaha hahahahahahahahaa....then coax him into letting you get on the highway again in the tC and do it all over again.....

Do it! you have 7 inches on me but I used to have a Suburban, '93 Silverado. I can honestly say that I enjoy driving the Scion everyday...plus with that 42 gallon tank you have to fill you will be alot happier putting in $24 compared to $100. As far as "pep" for a little engine it moves pretty good, if you can drive a 5-speed get the 5-speed, I drive on the highway and never feel unsafe with the Xb! Join the club and just get it!

yeah man do it get an xB. the 5 spd is highly recomemded. has just a little more pep then the automatic. A plus side is the fuel economy. (im sure you know from previous threads)

if you where to check out any of the previous threads. we have a lot of people asking us if they should get one. as far as i know they all have. If you do get an xB or any scion vehicle you will for sure will part of a unique community.
happy hunting and take one out for a spin.

No, don't buy a Scion! They're so ugly and crappy! Get a Honda Civic with some green neon windshield wiper nozzle lights and chrome spinners and a big canister exhaust!!!

No, I'm just kidding. Test drive the xB... and get a manual. They handle surprisingly well too... it probably scares other drivers that this little shoebox can catch up in the corners.

Buy the XB you will love it. You will have lots of room and fun to drive. The only place I have found it does not have enough power is at speeds above 60mph in the mountains.
And it also gets 28-31 mpg - I have an automatic.

thanks for all the input guys! I'm im gonna try to get to the dealership soon and try testdriving one. The gas issue is why i need to get rid of the Suburban, I dont tow anthing so that wont be an issue. I just need space, but I think the scion offeres what i need. A suburban has space... but WAY too much.

Thanks

I feel ya man, I have a older Jimmy that sucks gas like a **** queen. The xB gets great gas mileage, doesn't really sacrifice much room and I've test driven both the auto and 5 speed.....both are peppy but I like having full control...so that's why I'm going to get a 5 speed.

I don't have my xB yet, won't be here till early May...but I've test driven both the auto and manual on the highway and read all the complaints of road noise...but imo, it's alot smoother/quieter ride then my GMC Jimmy 4x4 by far. I mean it's no where the ride quality and quietness of a BMW/Mercedes...but to me, it's not even worth griping about.
