Default Smash and grab

Some _______ smashed the passenger window on my wifes Xb yesterday and grabbed the GPS on our dashboard.

Yes, I feel stupid for leaving it there. We were in our office parking lot, I'd been out in it for lunch, so some time between 1:30pm and 5pm someone did it.

Annoyingly we only took her box instead of mine because I needed gas and we didn't want to be late. The GPS isn't in mine, so it wouldn't have been smashed.

_______s!!

Smash and grabs are a daily occurence here in Chicago.
A few years ago, when I had my '78 Buick Regal, some A-Hole did a smash and grab and stole my CDs that were in it. Some people just don't care...

That sucks. Too bad the GPS doesn't have a tracking device on it. That's kind of ironic when you think about it. The only thing a GPS can't find is itself. The lesson here is don't leave stuff in the car to get stolen. It's not your fault someone wanted to steal your GPS but they wouldn't have done it had it not been in view.

I had someone smash and grab out of my 87 Chevette when I was in high school over a decade ago to steal a ice scraper. That is all they got, an ice scraper....I hate thieves

You know, I never thought about it that way

Of course, now I'm shopping for a new GPS, we had the Garmin Streetpilot 330, and now I'm thinking of the 550 with bluetooth phone support

That would be a great idea but I've heard if you boobytrap your car and the criminal is injured by it, they have rights to press charges against and sue you.

Sorry for your loss smeg. It's a shame that there are so many people out there that will not work for what they want.

Hide everything in your car. Tint the windows. Don't put stickers telling the world what equipment you have.

I don't know if that true or not but that's when you have a good lawyer and hopefully a judge with some sense. The thief probably has a record anyway, most judges would tell them to get the heck out of their courtroom, i know would (if i was a judge that is). I wish I could have my pitbull attack him, but we kknow that wouldn't go over very well since everyone thinks they're bad dogs.

that sucks. they always let the bad people go free. but karma always gets them back twice as hard. i got kicked out of the house cuz my stepdad is racist and i WAS going to get my revenge on him, but i just dropped it and went on. I found out he got in a wreck and totalled his truck, has permanent back and neck injuries and now he has gout. so just let it go if someone steals something, u may think it's bad at the moment, but someday they will pay the price.

Rather than get mad, I just went out and bought a Garmin streetpilot 550 instead. Nice GPS.

I was less ____ed off about the window and the GPS and more ____ed off that this _______ made me miss watching my wife at her dance class that night, something we'd been planning all week

I had my driver side smashed out. All I had and have is the stock audio unit. Nothing was taken, but I had to keep taking out bits of glass for over a year. Sorry for your misfortune........

Last time some one tried to break into my last car, they screwed up both the door locks and door around the locks causing $900 damage, and didn't even get in
The windows had no door frame around them and could be pulled open and reach in to un lock the door, I could break in to it in about 3-5 seconds, had it to do it a couple of times when I locked the keys inside.

A local guy kept having his tools stolen from the lock box in his back fof his truck, after the third time he wired the box to an electrical source and zapped the guy the next time he tried to steal them again, The b*stard sued him and won $30,000. Some thing is wrong here

Florida and Texas are the only states that use electric couches rather than electric chairs...

Sorry for your loss smeg, I know theres not a full proof system to stop thieves...when I get done modding my box I hope to have dark tint on the windows and full curtains and sun visors so no one can see in, the downside of thieves not being able to see inside your ride is they might figure its loaded with goodies and just steal the whole car, oh well.

Here in Louisiana the law clearly states if anyone tries to harm you or your property you have every right to kill them. If you are using a gun just be sure you are not going to shoot them in the back.

_______s!!
You could have saved your box from damage by just leaving the doors unlocked. Lesson learned
