Default So i got rear-ended today.

Well seems like today just isn't my day. I was exiting an off-ramp. Stopped before turning right. And BAM. This fellow in a Hyundai Elantra rear-ends me. I was probably hit at 5 mph. Looks like i'll need a new rear bumper cover w/ rear bumper applique and a rear bumper support beam thingy. You can kind of make out the license plate frame.

Here are some pictures of the damage.

Wow . . . the ranger must have been going slow. I traded in my Ranger when I bought my xB. It was ironically hit by another Ranger in a parking lot and did like $3k worth of damage. I'm shocked our little xB's hold up so well against them.

Kinda cool that you can read "Nevada" from the guy's front licence plate on your bumper, heh. Sorry about your luck.

I hit a Ranger with my BSP xB 2 years ago. Dumb idiot made a left turn and I ran smack into him. Thought the bags were deployed, i was supprise the box held up good too. Took about 3 month to settle the claim and got a new box. BTW, my old xB got sold by the insurance to some guy that fixed up. Meet him 2 month ago, and the xB is still running.

Yeah, just get the guy's insurance to pay for that. After all it ws his fault right?

He was parked behind me, was taking his shirt off to put another one and took his foot off the brake, the car leaped forward, and boom. Ive rear ended some one going 25, no airbags, the fog light covers fell out, and a few scratchs, i got lucky i guess.

I’m sorry to hear that the same thing happened to me a month and a half ago… I was rushed to the hospital and got an attorney… my update today is that I still haven’t gotten my car back, I have 2 herniated disks one in my neck and one in my lower back, I wake up in the middle of the night almost every night and I got to go to the chiropractor 2 days a week… the guy was going about 45-50mph

I got the same sort of dent in my bumper, from a jeep, the guy was not paying attention and screached to a halt behind me, then had the nerve to tell me to watch my driving and be more careful. The nerve of some people.

what is the impact range that makes the whole rear crumple. I see a lot of them on ebay that look like the rear got hit around 20-30 mph and its a total loss

I filed a report with the highway patrol. then called up my insurance to see what they could do. They told me to call up his insurance so that they can pay for everything. If i took a claim on my insurance, i'd have to pay the deductible.. that i didn't know.

But everything looks good, just waiting for the farmer's guy to give me a call.

Only the mechanical stuff. They metal and frame are really really tough on Rangers. . . . . Gotta have something good to cover up the crappy mechanical works and oddly poor gas mileage
