Solution to Dash/pass. Door Rattle
OK, here is my take on it. I was freaking out, otherwise perfectly quiet ride except a buzzing rattle from where the dash meets the fron passenger door. OR SO I THOUGHT!
OK so after inspecting the interior, and not finding any parts that may be rubbing, I check under the hood. Lo-and-behold! The air intake screen! it was in the right place. I tapped on it. Buzz Buzz Buzz This was it! The wind must be making the screen vibrate against the plastic.
Simple solution: Get some automotive silicone (my uncle gave me some windshield silicone. Nasty black stuff) and put a dab in between the mesh and the plastic.
This did the trick! Also, I put some double sided sticky foam between that air intake plastic and the windshield itself. All of this has made my ride 100% silent (except rattling license plate in rear Grrrr) ok I'm gonna take some pictures and post them in a bit.
I hope this helps everyone else!

ARG!
Damn, that's got to be the noise that I keep hearing right in front of my speedometer. It's right in the center at the bottom of the windshield and it sounds like it's right under the hood. I hear it usually when accelerating.
Thanks a ton. I don't know how long it would have taken me to find that!
I hate the licence plate noise too. Gonna do something about it soon.

i had the same problem with my xa. so i took apart the windshield wiper cover. i saw that the part that butts up against the bottom of the glass was missing the black foam padding on the one side. so i got some foam padding for window insulation that had a sticky side and put a strip across it. about 2ft long. now the rattling has gone. even when i accelerate .

I'll try it and see if it helps. I got the plate noise fixed. Put some strips of self sticking foam insulation behind the plate so it can't vibrate. It worked for me.

Glad to see that this thread is still helping out some people. I'm at 11K miles now and recently my front passenger locks are starting to vibrate (Buzz) a little when locking/unlocking them.
(silly story)
I also thought I was having a major problem with the passenger door making noises until I figured out that it was a phillips head screwdriver i left in the door cubbyhole that caused additional vibration when the door locks/unlocks *slaps forehead* Putting the screwdriver away made the noise less noticeable, but *I* still notice it even if my passengers don't.

I solved the licence plate noise by installing well nuts in the bottom holes. You have to drill a 7/16" hole but the well nut is a threaded insert that surrounds the bare metal. I did touch up the metal with some paint before installing the insert though.

I have been meaning to post about this for months, but I am sort of lazy, and I haven't.... I will have to check this out on my lunch break... I hear a vibration / rattle from the center of the dash... BUT, the vibration is only audible when the engine RPM's are between about 2500-3000 RPM's....

Rattle
Ya mine has a bad rattle in the dash only when the car is cold (little blue light on) and the idle is higher than normal. When it warms up and the iddle drops it is fine.
One day I gotta pay attentiona and figure out what it is.
