It is odd and kinda a waste of space but my wife keeps a box of tissues there and sometimes the stuff she uses for reading her books during long trips. Otherwise at shows I leave it empty.

I put a tissue box there. It would slide off on hills or during "spirited" driving (aka flooring it, lol) so I bought a roll of that rubbery anti-slip webbing stuff at a DollarTree or Walmart and put a little piece underneath. Stays put now.

I have a set of Wilson's non-slip pads for all the cubbies in the xB dash, so things stay where they are put even through spirited driving.
My front seat passengers usually put whatever's in their hands in that cave above the glovebox - purses, sunglasses, etc.
(The pit at the left end of the cave I keep drive-in napkins in.)

hahaha. yeah i used to keep my tissue box there, but then i got annoyed with it. so basically whatever my passenger has at the moment, ranging from papers, to a purse, to whatever. i have an air freshener sitting there as well. it's a low profile gel-replaceable type, so it fits well. i have a liquid-bottle air freshener ready to go into that little cup thing as well. in general, i think that cubby space is good to personalize so as to give a bit of personality to your interior. make it interesting/useful.
