Strange Windshield Wiper Question??
Anyone got any ideas how we can make our "rear" windshield wiper a "intermitent or delay" mode?
Also, I have noticed something wild. Have any of you noticed how our front windshield wipers (and quite possibly the windshield itself) are the exact same from the 1st generation Rav4 ?
I am wondering if we could get old RAV4 wiper stalks/the control arm on our steering columns (order it or find a wrecked one from a junk yard) , do the switch with our wiper stalk and make it work that way... Some people with Mazdas did that with Protege5 wipers by snagging old MPV wiper stalks to get "variable intermitent front wipers".
Any ideas????

Do what most people do. Use rain-X and only use the wipers when it is raining hard enough to really need them. Saves wear and tear on your windshield and the wiper blades. The rear wiper is a complete waste.
I'm wondering if I could put a slightly larger wiper on my box.
I love rear wiper, and it killed me not to have it on my last car.
So I'd really like to get this one to work the best it can.
Rain-X is a good call though (as we both said in another post)
It's worth it's weight, that's for sure!
Oh, and as for the wiper stalk, I don't think it's the stalk
itself that does the intermittent, THATS just a switch.
What really does it is a relay that closes and opens at a
set rate when 12volts hits it. So there is more then what
you are thinking involved.

TRY: Streak Free Wiper blades they make a 5 year free replacement silicone wiper blade in 101 frame and blade combinations. They have several pages on how to installl wiper blades and other interestering stuff.

Dont know if they still sell them but years ago I pourched a intermitent wiper control that wired into the old 3 speed wipers.
Dont know if that would work but worth a try.

Call the tech guy at the wiper company. They can break down all the parts and numbers for you for both cars. They will know what will work, and if the RAV4 won't, they will know the p/ns that you would need from a different vehicle.
You can have Scion give you a printout of every part number that was put on your vehicle at the time of manufacturing. You just have to ask the right person. If your interested. It's a long list, but, it is interesting.
I too, use rain x. It is so much easier.
