What diameter exhaust tip should I be looking for when buying one?

i don't know what the diameter is of the tip I chose.. I just picked something that would fill in the gap.

I chose an oval style.

I just measured my old stock tip for you (it wasn't damaged by removal). The tip is not exactly round; instead it's oval. I took measurements on the back portion (the part closest to the muffler). The widest part measures 2 1/8" and the narrowest part of the oval measures 1 7/8" - I guess then if the pipe was crushed out to actual round the inside diameter would be 2.00"

Hope this helps. You may want to consult with a muffler shop for actual upgrade tip fitment. :D RPM

HEY! Who stole my exhaust! I am glad that the stock crome exhaust tip was not an option, otherwise I would have to make people get down on thier knees and look up the skirts to see it. It does not stick out, it is ressessed under the bumper lip. I spent $8.58 on a big, crome long exhaust tip. I lost my first one because I used the screws that came with it. Shaking causes the screws to loosen and it falls off, instead, use a worm gear clamp. I just put it on over the stock exhaust tip because I read that the original tip is hard to get off and even if it is damaged, it is hidden by the rear bumper lip. Water now drips out the holes for the screws instead of spewing out the back of the exhaust tip.

I sprung for a Magnaflow stainless steel tip, 4.5" diameter. Here's a pic on my xB:

It was installed at a local muffler shop for $48. They cut off the original tip, fabbed a short pipe extension to fit, and welded the whole assembly together.
