Default Talked to a tow truck guy whos seen xB's in accidents...

Well i was at some party tonight and i was in my car pulling out a 30 rack i just got and a tow truck guy was checkin out my car becuase he said it was done up nice etc etc..... anyways, he had his girl in his car with him and said he almost got her one accept for the fact that he has seen 2 scion xb's in accidents, he said one of them was at 35 mph and a person hit him from the driver side fender and the guy ender up in the backseat and unfortunatly died, the other one he said was at 50-65 and the car was so beat up that you couldnt even tell what kind of car it was, and that person also unfortunatly died. Just a heads up to make sure all of you drive as safe as possible. I was really freaked out tonight driving home at 3am. Just a heads up for everyone. Any comments or anything.... discuss!

were they wearing seat belts?

if you are hit from the driver's side fender... how would you end up in the back seat? Somehow I doubt thats the whole story there...

I'm a firefighter/paramedic for 8yrs and I have seen alot of people wind up in the back seat. Sometimes the seat back breaks and most others are because of no seatbelts. I have seen people dead in all kinds of cars, big and small. I feel if it your time, than there is nothing you can do about it. Just make sure your paying attention when you drive.

Have Fun

have been in two broadside, driver side collisions, myself.

1965 Ford LTD (galaxie). Sitting at traffic light, then pulled into the blind intersection on the green. Was impacted by a 60mph car at the left front fender, just ahead of the drivers door. Was wearing my seatbelt. Lucky hit! The car was spun around -one and one half times. I was not hurt (amazing) A -tennis shoe- which was on the rear floor, was picked up and ended on the dashboard.

Do not let loose items in your car become missiles.

1922 Ford T coupe: low speed broadside, Woman turned into my path. It helped that her Lexus' nose was able to plow -under- the tall, old car and pick it up and give it a 180 degree spin. The old car was destroyed, but again, I walked away with only contusions. I am a lucky boy.

-this is why I got a safety yellow car. Twice bitten, but only one time is a driver alive.

I got hit from the rear at about 30-35 miles per hour by a papa john's driver who could not stop due to break failure. In resulted in bodywork on the hatch, a new bumper and work on the quarter panel. I came out fine though. In my opinion it took the hit rather well considering no brakes were applied. I didnt even hear the car coming and I was at a complete stop yielding to a driver. Stories get exxagerated all the time!

The first thing i asked from the tow truck guy was "were their seatbelts on" he said yes, and when i asked how the guy ended up in the backseat....he said the crash was like tinfoil the whole steering column ended up getting pushed all the way through the front part of the cab and smashed the guys chest and broke the seat from the rails

see now i disagree because when i had my BSP xB, it was hit by a deer and the deer was the one that got messed up, granted there was damage to the xB, but not that bad. now i was also reaer-ended in my BSP xB and the only thing that was meesed up, was the bumper was scratched up and knobked out of alignment alittle bit. so, i think scions are like little tanks from my personal experiences.

From looking at those pictures I would say Scions actually protect the mushy people inside pretty damn well. Only saw one xB that looked scary, and that was 'cause the rear corner was completly folded in.

Hit any car hard enough and its going to get bent. Subarus (very safe and strong cars) have been torn into two pieces by tractor trailers. Scary.

Now, if those dumb as.s in the xB's had been weariing their seat belts...

I went with my mother-in-law to pick up her car in the shop and while we were there I noticed a folder that said Scion XB on it. So I asked the guy what had happened to it. He said it had been t boned by a lady that ran a red light. I asked him how it held up. He said he was very surprised at how well it held up. And that it was mostly superficial damage (no damage done to the frame or the windows)

I side with SciFly. I've been in 2 head-ons and survived both (one on my honeymoon!). Crazy thing is, each time was in the same car, which I rebuilt from the first time.

This time I got the Solar Yellow just so I have that advantage of being seen. I use this car for business. I noticed that a lot of cars in that website were Cammos.

Statistics may help here....The number of auto accidents that actually kill people has steadily declined. Last year, the only categories of vehicles where fatalities actually increased were SUV's (rollover fatalities). This is ironic since one reason people buy these vehicles is due to the fact that they feel safer in a big rig. The other category is motorcycles. Also, the incidence of drunk driving fatalities has decreased, although if you want to increase exponentially your chances of not being involved in a fatal accident, staying off the roads between the hours of 11pm-4am is a good place to start. If you read your local paper and note the times that the worst accidents occur, you'll see a pattern. One thing I religiously do when I'm first in line at an intersection is check for vehicles that may be running a red light before I go...this has saved me grief on several occasions..

My buddy eric rolled his scion, ended up inverted with a crumpled roof and panels, but the frame was not bent and no windows broke. In my profile is a pic of my box by his BSP after it was fixed from having 6K worth of damages. (gotta love insurance...till your premium goes up)

My brother was one of them...he usually doesnt wear his seat belt but my friend wont go anywhere till ya put it on. Thank god for that, my brother is a moron...is it that hard to buckle a little clip? Still hasnt learned his lesson. Only wears it half the time now....better than never like before I suppose

That wrecked scion site is really hard to take. Seeing hundreds of pictures of the car I love so much all smashed up.
