Default These buggers are HARD to sell!

Man I must be a bad salesman or something. The private party KBB on my car is still at 11,500 and I can't get anyone to take the thing at 10,900. And at 10,900 I'm still putting 145$ with it to get to the payoff amount! Its been three weeks in autotrader and only two half serious interests. Somebody throw me a frikin' bone here!

Anybody have any suggestions?

What year/color/options are on your car? KBB is just a recommendation for what a private party should be paying, but it's by no means a guideline....

We should invent Private Party Pure Pricing. Maybe that would help.

Well of course I don't personally consider KBB a used car bible but ALOT of dealers and private parties in the south do. Its an 05', dark blue, with only cruise as an option.

what model? My guess is your asking price is not a big enough difference from a new car. KBB said my car is still worth 17K (8000 miles, auto, and some other accessories). But there is no way in hell I will see 17K for it. People can pay just a little more for a brand new.

Used xAs sell for just as much as brand new out here on the left coast at dealerships. $10,9 is a good price as I have seen used xAs sell for $13+ here. How do I know, cuz I've been looking around for xAs.

Yeah even the used ones at the dealerships with 16k on them for mileage are still going for new retail.
crazy.
Yeah the thing is cheap enough that no one wants to buy them second hand

But what I dont understand is who is actually willing to pay near brand new price for a used car? Unless they are that impatient and cant wait a couple of weeks. Its kinda like when I was looking at getting a used honda civic. The used ones were just as much as a new one.

Flooded??/??? you can't be serious....we (scion) didn't make enough cars to flood the market.... if you could see the dealer chat in the dealers's forum ...everyone NEEDS more cars to sell some people are waiting 6 weeks for the color and trasmission they want....the market is no where near flooded.....selling a car on your own is always going to be tough, I think your price is fine.... but how many people having that much cash around, not a whole lot of people set up their own loans so it can be tough for you.... keep trying good luck

Something is odd in the KBB pricing for an xA?

The price for a 2004 xA - Auto - 22K miles - Excellent Condition is $12,180

but price for a 2005 xA - Auto - 11K miles - Excellent Condition is $11,915.

Huh? Which would you pick?

Yep, Phoenix sells them as soon as they get them. Had to wait two weeks for the one I wanted, luckily it was at the port in CA and not claimed yet. xAs go pretty fast, xBs they can not keep in stock. Had to show me the demo car when I looked at them, with the dealer wrap advertisement. No xBs for sale at all.

Welcome to my world of selling cars. My Explorer was in Autotrader for 11 months, 2 calls, one from the newspaper wanting to sellit and one from a guy.
My S-10 is currently in the trader, has been for 3 months, 9 calls, 1 person trying to scam me, 1 that just wondered into it that's ready to buy it.

As for the 2004 being more than the 2005, the 2004 is rare as it was only sold in a few states, 2005's can be found anywhere, except for PHX, I bought our PGP in PHX (just wanted to rhyme that)

That's an interesting theory. But it seems contrary to what people would want. When I bought my 2005 I could have bought a new 2004, but assumed it would be considered a year older and therefor worth less. I also think a 2005 RS 1.0, with only 1550 units sold, should be valued at more than $13,080 by KBB.

Than, as you noted, the marketplace is the ultimate judge of price.
