Tired of ugly tail lights?
Ok so I have had my xB almost 3 weeks now and have come to realize I realy want the Euro tail lights. but the $200 on eBay and $295 at my dealer price is a little steep right now for me... The thing I realized I liked the most about them was that the edges are black so from the side the white/clear lense isnt so obviouse.. so now we come to the im broke (wheels, tires, and springs) and I do some vinyl work.. I said lets just do somthing differant... here is what happened..

I know this isnt everyones style and I am working on some more conservative (non tribalspider) designs... I think I might swing these on eBay any input anyone?

Why is it a ticket? everything shows.. brakes, Blinkers, even that damn red reflector.. all visible.. oh yea and reverse.. I dont think there is any law on designs over them as long as they are visable.. take for instance the late 80s mustang GTs.. coverd all the hell up but still visable.. There is as much showing on this design as an altezza has..

i dig the third one... far right.
how much will u consider selling them for? any choice of vinyl colors?
i don't see problem with ticket...because the cutout will show all the necessary lights (brakes, turn signal and reverse).
the only way u can really bait urself for a taillight ticket is if those areas were totally covered like those dark tinted plastic ones.

I have been down this road just recently here in NJ. My NEON failed state inspection because i modified my stock tails. According to state law, any modification to stock tail lights is a no-no. Any after market tail has to be DOT approved, and have the DOT stamp on the tail itself. Just as simple as that. Because i failed inspection for the tails i could have gotton a ticket from a cop because i was breaking the law for modified tails.
Just to note, i have been pulled over countless times for different reasons, all with the modified tails on my car, and never had a cop bust my stones over them. Matter of fact, i have 2 different pull overs where the cops loved the look of my NEON, go figure.

xB guy the vinyl is from my plotter I make them.. Im working on a few differant designs once I get them all straight ill see what the actual cost will be. Of course I can do them in any color Vinyl I have or is available... Im thinking some Carbon Fiber soon myself..
Right now im using a vinyl that is rated for outdoor signage for 7 year lifespan.. So figure atleast 5 years.. with any kind of care ide guess in the 8-9 year range.. they expect a sign to be put up and never touched, cleaned, or taken care of and at that sort of abuse its rated at 7 years outside in the elements. I understand the tail light covers... with a tinted cover the reflector is not visable.. and I understand the Caddi taillights with no reverse.. those are obviously missing somthing... this is a fine line and Im sure in some states and in some situations it could cause problems.. ( the spiders ) I think the one sample im working on the right would have ZERO negatives.. it will give you the nice black edge that the euro tails have and nicely break up the taillights.. But also leave the spots wide open.. Im goign to run them around here localy (FL) for a while to see if I get any crap.. but I doubt it..our LEOs here are pretty kewl.. I have to admit they are a bit tricky to get on right... a lot of patience.. removal of the tail lights is recomended... it takes 2 minuts and 2 nuts each.. a little soapy water then work them with a firm squeegee like deal... stretch them at the top corner and they turn out good.. Obviously ill get a good set of directions to go with them as well.. I could also do some custom ones.. I almost did some scion logos last night.. The flames are a great idea but they dont lend to the design.. I need a big opening at the top one at the bottom and two half sizers in the middle.. with flames the licks at the top were thin right in the brake light... a no good situation.. What would you guys pay for somthing like this? I want to be reasonable I mean its only a sticker.. And of course Ide like to make some money isnt that why we all work.. let th ideas roll in..
