Default Tokyo Auto Show XB

I was talking with one of my corporate contacts at SCION and mentioned the XB at the Tokyo auto show. Looks pretty cool.

Article:
If you're looking for the follow-up vehicle to the Scion xB and a spiritual sister to Honda's Element, you've found it in the bB concept, one of a slew of boxy, foxy vehicles set out by Japan's automakers at the Toyota show. The bB is a Scion-sized compact with an exterior-especially in the junction of the windshield and hood-that resembles Honda's larger crossover vehicle. More rounded and less blocky than the current Scion xB, the bB's electric-green paint is complemented by nightclub lighting inside and a nine-speaker sound system. Turn on your favorite tunes, and the lights bounce along to the beat-even if it's the Carpenters. This "place to chill out" was hardly mentioned in the course of Toyota 's press conference, but it's empirically evident that the Scion xB, due for a replacement in a year or so, could end up looking very much like the bB.

So is this REALLY the new xB (I certainly hope not) or just a styling exercise> The t2B was way better...

more than likely ( 90% ) this is the zxB's replacement. it WILL NOT be called xB but it will be the general replacement for the xB.
and it's ugly. lol
only thing i like are the headlights.

Well Kelly it sure is different looking, almost pt cruiserish with that rounded front
end. I still like the current style of the xb we have now. See you at the next meet.
Peace

I love the blue lights in the wheelwells and the grille, too bad they won't be able to have them.

I don't like the OS handle placement.

I got all excited, thinking I saw a sunroof. It's a reflection.

There's another article in the Scion News area, but this one has a 'real' picture, not a press-released one.

Dang, I was hoping the early press was wrong and this WASN"T going to be the next version. The xB is the design people are trying to emulate and now Toyota makes it look like they are trying to emulate the PiTy Cruiser and the Element.

Scion was so far out in front they were almost lapping the competition but now it looks like they are trying to play catch-up...

It's alright but it doesn't have the love it or hate styling of the orignal; that's what makes me love the current xB so much. I would've liked to see a more powerful engine and 4 wheel drive more than a complete styling re-design.

I'll just call that the cruiser clone, since it looks so much like the PT cruiser to me. I don't like it, I think the current style is way better....like the boxy look more than the rounded look. They have other concept cars that look 10x better than this....what are they thinking?

I like it. It is a concept vehicle, so I think the front will probably change a bit, but the hard body panels are probably what we'll get. I just hope they put more mice under the hood.

They made no mention of either. It could have a larger engine AND AWD. They never said it didn't.

Too many round edges for me. I guess all good things must come to an end.

Looks like my xb will be a somewhat limited edition
