Default Took my box to Vegas this weekend...

Okay, so yeah i drove my box the 250 miles to vegas from So Cal this fri-sun, only complaint about the drive is the power lags up the hills and higher up evelation wise and what not, is this something the 10 horses from the cold air intake would help with alot?

And on a fun note, in vegas, as you all know, its a MAJOR tourist town, people from ALL over the us, and alot of people who've never seen a box yet. It was easy to spot those people, lol...everytime i pulled out of valet, or was driving down the strip slow as can be stuck in traffic, i saw people looking at the box wondering what the heck it was. Got a few looks of discust, lol, but mostly just looks like "what the heck is that thing"..it was great, i felt like i was introducing the non-scioned citizens to their first taste in box-vision. haha, alright well back to work, just thought i'd share that, i guess it was more funny if you were there with me, but yeah, it was a riot...oh yeah, saw 3 other boxes in vegas, 2 calif plates, and one florida...

Your xB must be a auto, because my MT has no problem up hills. I went up a very long and steep hill last weekend , that with my Focus would hardly hold 60MPH. Box held strong a 65MPH and that was in 4th gear, a/c, and i could have gone faster but the speed limit is 55...My old Focus was an auto, and was always out of breath!

I was on The Strip this Saturday night too. My sister & brother in-law were in town so we had to give them "the tour". I was focusing on driving, but they said that everyone walking the streets were checking out my box like it was a flying Delorean.

Meanwhile there were two Rolls-Royce Phantoms that noone seemed to be looking at...

I'm not sure a CAI would help up the hills. The added power claimed on those are at certain points in the powerband, so I doubt you'd notice much of a difference. I didn't really notice any lag when I drove home from buying my xB, I was flying by cars while going up the grades.

Hmm, well it would have been fine if the traffic wasn't stop-n-go. powered up just fine then, but the constant slowing down to 20mph, going up again to 40, back down, up to 65, down to 15...basically the traffic sucked and i'm sure it would have felt fine with no traffic...haha

If you have an automatic and have trobule with steep hils, turn off the over drive by pressing the switch on the shifter. It says that in the manual too and I have done it a few times and it helps alot. Just remember to turn it back on when your over the hill.

Don't drive up to Big Bear or Mammoth if you're worried about lack of power.

yeah, i've got a friend that lives in big bear that wants to check out my box, i'd be drivin up myself if i DID go, anybody taken theirs up there yet? i'm sure it would not be bad, big bears normally not stop n go traffic unless theres a snow storm, so it'll be a constant speed/rpm for the most part, i'm thinkin it'l be fine, i can always downshift
