Putting a 1,000 lb Harley in a 1,000 lb U-Haul trailer, and going on a trip involving fast Interstates or 2-laners in hilly country? You and the car wil not be happy.
A dirt bike on a 250 lb Harbor Freight trailer kit? No problem no matter what.
you do know it only has a 1.5l motor right???
max load on the box is about 850lbs.
not to mention a towing hitch on the box is not readily avail...
all custom and not a strong one...(uni body it connects to is very light/thin)
i would suggest not doing it.
if you needed one for holding mountain bikes or something light, it might not be too bad.

Towing is not recommended by Toyota. This is not to say that you can't still get a hitch and tow a trailer, or that you'd have a problem if the load was light enough.
But personally I'd want to limit the gross weight (trailer + contents) to something really light, like less than 500 pounds). This is a small engine that doesn't develop a lot of horsepower, and you could really shorten its life by asking too much of it.
I used to have a 1980 Datsun 210 wagon. Great little car, but we used to tow our 1000 pound camper up into the Poconos with it. We did this for years, and while the car certainly had to work to make the pull, we did it.
Until the poor thing needed a new engine after about 80,000 miles, which was seriously premature for that particular car.
I would never do that to my xB, which is one reason our other vehicle is a minivan with a tow package.

thanks for the info guys. I was trying to get a Quick answer for a customer of mine. My instict was no because of what the suspension is capable of. the motor sure the tranny mmm not so sure. this would have been for long trips also. I told him that i would not reccommend this at all as it would void the warranty.
damn, you have 3 xbs?
