Default Trailer hitch + lowered box

Im looking to get a 4wheeler and I noticed that there is a hitch you can put on the xb, question is does anyone have one on a 2 inch lowered box? question is i dont want it to drag going over speed bumps.

Even on an un-lowered xB, the hitch can drag on driveway ramps. It is about 5" off the ground, so yours would be 3".

Hmm, scary thought. I was considering getting a hitch for my xB whenever I purchased a waverunner. I'm going with D2 coilovers so I guess I could just jack up the rear if I am scared of the clearance.

this may sound redneck but what about air shocks for the rear if they make them. with the hitch on you could get around a inch more...

Umm, I thought you aren't supposed to tow anything with any Scion!

My xB is lowered 2". I just bought a drawtite hitch. It is completly hidden behind the bumper. The reciever hitch slides in upwards. check it out- http://www.etrailer.com/productdetai...arfrom=2004&h=

Oh yeah! I also found a set of Air bags that fit inside the springs to help keep things level. http://www.airliftcompany.com There only about $75.00 at Summitracing Item air-60774.

Default Hitch

I have used the Curt for a couple of years. As stated above - problem is with drop you will be too close to the ground. As it is I scrape once in a while (does not cause any damage) and as long as I am careful it is OK.

so with the hitch removed it is flush with the bottom of the bumper? do you have any pictures?

im sure they said that so you dont tow your big boat, both my quad and motorcycle are under 500lbs so i dont see it as a real issue.

Drawtite is rated at 200 lbs. tongue and 2000 lbs. towing weight. I believe the curt is the same.

Did you get etrailer's wiring kit, and how did that kit's installation go?

The Draw-Tite looks good but why is the cross beam in two sections? Is there a clearance issue for the exhaust?

I wish there was a plate on drawbar kit to protect the rear bumper cover from the trailer tongue.

Here are the instructions to the Draw-Tite from their website:

I did get the wiring kit with it. It just plugged in behind the tail lights. It only took 1 hour to install everything.

I did'nt have any issues with it but I do have a TRD exhaust. You could always weld a plate behaind the ball to protect the bumper.

Oh look they make things already that don't require welding. Unfortunately this one is only for 1" shank and not 3/4" but maybe somebody else makes something simliar:
