Default Transmission Poll: Manual vs Automatic

this is a quick poll to find out what kind of transmission the people here have. just vote for one or the other. the more votes, the more accurate this will be. thanks.

this poll is for xA and xB owners only. if you have a new civic or something, that's great, but please don't vote because it will just screw up the poll. thanks.

this poll will run for 30 days. maybe in a year i will do another one to compare the difference.

Wow..it's pretty balanced as of now... i assume there will be more Manual xB and xA out there... cuz i think Toyota may have produced more Manual Transmission and not to mention cheaper pricing incentive with Manuals.

well they both have their pros and cons. the manual is more fun to drive, in my opinion, but the auto is still cool because it makes for a nice cruiser.

The Japanese produce bulletproof manual transmissions, but I still hear of problems with their automatics, so the manual is the choice for reliability.

Also, my wife insisted on a manual. That overrides all other considerations!

hery george, i'm sure you knew this but the bB only comes in an automatic in japan. this is why i don't think the bB tuning thing ever really caught on in japan.

Actually, I didn't! Seems kind of strange to have it that way. Is the bB aimed at Gen-Y over there or is it aimed at the general public? Might be that the manual option was added to appeal to the young (and young at heart).

In any case, when the wife says "manual", who am I to argue? :) If the 2WD Honda CRV came with a 5-speed we'd probably be driving one right now, but since they force an automatic on that model we waited for something better to come along, which was the xB!

i think there might be some power issues in an automatic, a 5 speed is very peppy around town, especially when you keep the revs up high

Default You tell em AK

Surprisingly, no problems being a lil more than peppy in automatic, I test drove both.

hey, like i said before, it's all good. i like that you have a choice and there is nothing wrong with getting either one. i wouldn't mind driving either if i didn't have a choice, but personally i enjoy driving a manual transmission more. i've had automatic cars and i've had manual cars, and i just enjoy manuals so much more. speed isn't the issue. it's just fun for me. engine braking, choosing when the gears shift, and having something to do other than hold the wheel straight are some reasons why i like manual. but there are plenty of reasons to love auto as well.

I've been driving manual ever since I learned to drive. I find myself bored if I'm driving one of my friends autos. Proly because I've have drivin manual for a while.

Got myself an auto cause i got my stick crx....so i got both, one for cruisin and long trips and one for speed and work. Only thing i really want with that auto is a cruise control.

manual is awesome..especially for that extra push... however when it comes to convenience like holding hands with ur girl while cruising ..auto is more than a convenience, not to mention eating ur hamburger with one hand and holding a drink in the other.

Yes, if xB was considered a performance car i would have opted to get manual, but with the cruising motif of the xB...auto trans does the job great.
