Default TRD Clutch ???

I installed my TRD clutch yesterday and have a question for anyone else that has it. How far from the floor does your clutch now engage? My pedal moves about an inch and a half from the floor at most then it's fully engaged. I like it, but it makes shifting into first gear grind a little bit. Speed shifting into the other gears is great, but driving leisurely will make 2nd grind a bit as well. Anyone else have anything like this?

how? there is nothing listed in the repair manual for adjusting the clutch other than the clutch pedal free play, that I could find anyway.

i did notice that with mine, installed by dealer at 1,500 miles. after 2 rebuilds (trannie) and a new clutch (TRD) and release assembly i believe the toyota dealer finally has gotten it right. fixed it at 30k and i have 35k now with no problems.

ps; i had had throw-out bearing noise from the get-go...see previous threads on this subject. the clutch, et al, seems to be a 'weak link'.

The clutch requires adjusted, not the freeplay, but the actual clutch travel. If you look at the top of the clutch pedal where it connects to the pushrod for the master cylinder, the adjustment needs to be made there. If you have a shop manual, look at the clutch height adjustment, & that will help give you an idea of what you need to do.

Adjusted the pushrod tonight when I got home about two revolutions, and it is much higher in the travel. I may wind up turning it back in one full turn tho, will have to see how it drives tomorrow. Almost seems too high in the pedal travel now. Trial and error I guess.

good advice that. mine still will grind in 1st and 2nd if i don't push the pedal all the way to the floor, and i mean hard! think i'll try a turn or two. if i ain't out from under there in awhile, call 911!
