Default TRD quickshifter impressions (just installed today)

so today my TRD quickshifter finally arrived, and i couldnt wait to install it... so i took a long lunch from work and did the install

as far as installation goes, this was probably the most straightforward install i have ever done. instructions provided in the box were very helpful and everything fits/moves perfectly.

i am extremely pleased with the shifter itself, but i definitely cannot wait to change out the shift **** that was provided with it. im going to get the leather shift **** they sell for the celica/rolla/camry. the **** that came with the xA quickshifter is incredibly small, and it makes the shift lever look even longer than stock.

besides the teeny weeny shift ****, the difference in the feel is like night & day- with no akward change in location of the shift ****. throws are noticeably shorter, but not too short that it takes more effort to flip from one gear to the next. i feel much more connected to the road, and the shifts are a lot tighter & smoother- much more precise.

totally worth the money!!

How long did it take to install? This mod may be in my future.

Hey, I actually like the **** it comes with!
Umm, the stock shift **** should fit just fine, and it's a worthwhile mod. Shifting is so much nicer now.

yes, it will fit. but you need to widen the silver ring below the shifter so it will move further down the shift rod. the threads for the stock shift **** start up inside the shifter, whereas the ball **** thats provided, the threads start right at the bottom of it... ill try to post a couple of pictures to show what im talking about if its hard to grasp.

wont be hard to do though

130 shipped (next day air at no additional cost) from goldsboro toyota in NC. i'm going to order the leather shift **** from trdsource.com since they have it listed for only $57 and thats lower than you can even find it on ebay!

I'm curious on one thing. What does the TRD shift **** look like?

I hope it's this one:

Thanks, hornet. I don't particularly care for that one. I really like the TRD style I posted a link to. Very sporty looking. Not to mention I love the feel of leather.

Yeah, i did my TRD install yesterday. The throws dont feel much shorter to me, but the thing I love about it the shifts dont feel rubbery anymore, they are more precise.

I think to steel bushings have alot to do with it!

I love it- I will post pics tomorrow.....

I had the TRD QuickShifter installed as a dealer option. It is really nice however I went back to the stock shift ****. To me if felt more solid than the little TRD ****.
