Trouble with my RS 2.0 exhaust
Just got mine replaced at 42k miles. Dealership covered it under warrenty ( I have the extended warrenty) because the other RS 2.0 in town also has the same problem. They sold both of them so Capital Scion in Chattanooga is taking care of us.

Technically isn't the exhaust part of the emmissions system and warrantied for like 100k? I'm sure it will be covered seeing how many of the other 2.0 exhausts are doing the same thing. If your dealers doesn't help you let the Scion help line do it for you.

scion wont help you, so dont count on it. i believe around 30 of us on here wrote to them and they just gave us a generic answer, "it's not a big enough issue." well i guess they are waiting for one to fly off and seriously injure or kill someone before they will take action.

Yea, I also had gotten in touch with Scion. Like someone else said. They don't think it is a big enough problem. Just glad my Dealership took care of the problem.

hat might be what forces Toyota to actually step up and fix this problem once and for all. Does someone need to get hurt before they take care of this hazard?
I was driving southbound on Delaware State Highway 1 towards Ocean City, Maryland, maintaining a constant speed of 50 mph when the tailpipe on my Scion xB 2005 Release Series 2.0 fell off without warning. It bounced against the road, flew up, and hit the SUV driving behind me in the windshield. Fortunately, the windshield did not crack, and the driver (after we both pulled to the side of the road), drove off without incident. I was unable to find the tailpipe.
The vehicle has approximately 45,000 miles on it, and has been kept in excellent working condition with frequent routine maintenance. However, I note that poor welding on the tailpipes of the Release Series 2.0 has been recorded frequently online. (See, e.g., https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=105750.) Only 2500 of the cars with this muffler were produced, and over a dozen complaints are easily observable online.
I'm happy that the car behind me was an SUV instead of a motorcycle, as the flying tailpipe could have seriously injured a motorcycle driver. I am presently attempting to replace the part, but my local dealership has informed me that it is no longer available. Scion has replied that the dealer needs to search for the part number via my VIN number, and I am awaiting a result on this count.

Of the four RS 2.0 that I know in the Atlanta area including myself. There have been
six muffler failures. Two of them have not posted here and two of them have been on
my car. One of them is owned by a women who was refused replacement by the dealership
and had to go to a muffler shop to get her car fixed. (she admits not having the courage
to fight with the dealership and she shouldn't have to.)

So here's the latest:
I talked to my local Scion dealer, and they've told me that the RS 2.0's muffler is now on "stop sale," and that no parts are available anywhere in the nation. I told them to search under my VIN (thanks to advice on these forums and the instructions from Scion's helpline), and he replied that, yes, he had the part number right, and that they're on "stop sale."
I have no idea why. He told me that "stop sale" is a status sometimes issued when a manufacturer knows there's a quality problem (you think?), so that might be it, but could give me no more details. He promised to call back tomorrow with better advice on a solution, but for now I'm driving a really noisy box.
Any advice, particularly from someone whose tailpipe has recently fallen off? Is there really a stop sale?

well maybe there will be a recall on this if they told you that. thats the only thing i can think of as to why there is a "stop sale". mine has not fallen off yet and im at 34,000 on my xB...

Sounds like maybe they could replace all those defective DCs with Strups instead. That would be sweet!
If they don't do something quick, they should atleast buy you an equal value replacement or pay any excessive noise tickets you might get.
Is there anyway to put a baffle on it till it gets fixed?

The badge is exclusive with the RS2.0 edition and it's got a plate stating that...Other than that, its just a DC sports exhaust...But, we (RS2.0) owners paid for the special packaging when we bought our xB's and the exhaust was one of the special goodies...So it needs to be stamped RS2.0 edition...
