sometimes the sterring wheel will lock to hard so you have to turn it harder for the key to move.

My xB Auto does not like to start in the cold. Have to hold the key for a few seconds.

yeah happened to me twice already.. as stated, the steering wheel locks tightly sometimes... just turn the key harder than you usually do and it should unlock.

Maybe you should take it back to the dealer to see if the mechanism needs a little lube in there.

i have dad the same problem starting when it is cald. i even had it not start at all once. i took it to the dealer and they told me there was nothing wrong and they had no clue. i do have a system in it and they sad it was it. i later want and got someone else to look at it and they sad it was the battey and not the system but the system did not help. i even had a cap. so today i am adding another battey and replacing the stock one too. i hope that fixes it.

Don't just turn the key, this is a safety feature, turn the steering wheel while turning the key as stated before, that should free it. If you force it, you are risking damage.
