Default What type of fuel?

I just got my xB 2 days ago and I still can't believe that I was driving an 89 camry p.o.s. edition just 2 days ago and now i'm a proud owner of a polar white xB.

Now to my question..

Does it matter what fuel you use in you xB? 87 vs 91 Grade ? Or am I better off saving money pumping 87 ?? If this question is asked already can someone kindly tell me?

your friend has no idea what he is talking about. tell him to not give advice to anyone anymore about cars.

87, just like your manual says. its what your engine is made to run on

yea... the xB is built for economy, so in saying that, use the cheap stuff. You won't notice a difference on 91 (in AK we can only get 90 so its even more of a waste) and you'll save 20 cents or more a gallon. Thats 2 bucks a fillup

You would think with a high compression ratio it would need 91 but 87 is all it needs to run at it's full potential unless you have a turbo or supercharger.

Here's what Scion says:
Scion xB horsepower and torque [Incident: 060901-000071]
From: Scion <scion_mail@scion.com>
Response (Vernon) 09/06/2006 04:09 PM
… The vehicle is engineered and tested using 87 octane fuel. We recommend that fuel for optimum performance, reliability, and fuel economy on the vehicle. The vehicle does make the same power at maximum throttle position on 87 octane as it would on higher octane fuel.
