About 10" back from the front wheel, you'll feel a couple of notches... that's your jack point. If you don't have a rubber pad for your floor jack, invest in one to save scratching. The rear is notched the same way. The notches are on the ridge of metal just inside the side skirting.

Did you guys get owner's manuals with your cars?

Wow, that sounds like an awesome floor jack. It actually goes UNDER the car? Damn.
You probably want to do the fronts seperate from the rears. The way the rears work, you're going to have to jack it up really high if you want to do one side of the vehicle at a time... and then the wind would hit it and it would roll over. Do the fronts, then the rears.

Calm down friend! Lets handle this Christian-like. Yeah, it was a joke, because seriously, if you don't know where to jack up your car or place your jackstands, then you probably should let someone else work on your car. But I also applaud people who make the effort to do their own work. The money you save on labor helps buy tools so you can do more work on your car. The first thing I would do if I were you would be to read the AWESOME tech writeup on this site about how to do a spring install. It has plenty of pics and some great tips. You failed to mention if you had looked at it already and were looking for supplemental tips. When doing your buddies car, you just need simple hand tools, beer, and about an hour. You don't need a spring compressor, just have your buddy push down on the spring while you tighten the strut nut. Take everything apart slowly so you can see where it goes. Don't forget to trim that bumpstop a bit and install the anti-rattle stuff on the rears if it is supplied (you failed to mention what springs you're going to be using). The rears seriously only take like 10 minutes. The fronts are about 20 a piece. Just take your time and be patient. Use cardboard or something on the jack to protect the underside, and look just past the bodykit on the underside as to where the jack goes. Be gentle!

There aren't any. The Scion doesn't have a crossmember or any sort of frame in the front to get the jack under. In the rear, you have the torsion beam, but I doubt it's a good idea to use it as a jack point. If you want to work on all four wheels, jack up on side, put in your stands, and then repeat for the other side. Please don't attempt to place your jack under the oil pan or any other engine components.

on page 192 of the owners man it shows a diagram of jack positions. make sure you will be able to get the jack out after it's lowered.

you've "lowered many cars before" yet you don't know how to jack up a car? Please, take it to the dealer.

i agree w/the owners manual tip. i jack up a side at a time and add jack stands. thats IMO the best way, and usu. teh safest (if done right) the scion does pretty much, not have a way to jack up the front. the rear however has that lil "tail" under the spare area. serves well to get two jack stands in at the same time
