I think most of them are just looking for a killer story like "I beat that box looking car, that thing must have a killer engine because of its shape." Most dont put 1+1 together to know the xB is a little underpowered.

You'll laugh, but I actually beat an automatic V6 Camaro (with the old 3.4l V6) and a non-V8 Durango. I was just fooling around, but I couldn't believe I actually pulled from both. Definately a good laugh something this slow could hold its own against cars, all be it base models, much more powerful than the Toaster.

I think it has more to do with the fact that you are stealing THEIR attention at the light. They modded the hell out of their car only to have the spot light stolen by a stocker box. I agree with the idea that the xBs seem faster than they are and can keep pace well (especially 2nd-4th on the 5spd).

Common guys, don't kid yourselves. Did these people actually KNOW you were racing? You've seen the Quarter mile timeslips posted elsewear. They run 17-18's with 108 blazing HP. Is there a car it will really actually beat, realistically. Keep in mind it was designed to be a race car, even after you spend a grand for cold air intake, exhuast, and big stickers you are still going to have a hard time giving any car a decent run if they know they are in a race. OK, you may be able to beat an old chevy sprint 3 cylinder, or the Pre-turbo VW diesels. But get real.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the box (the looks anyway) but the performance of even the stick is hard to live with. Passing on the highway?- fahgetaboutit. I've owned 26 cars and the only one I've ever had that was slower was the 1986 Golf Diesel with 200K miles on it. Even after adding a 50HP NOS shot, I don't expect to actually be able to race anybody unless I come up on a ragged out Celebrity or K-car or something like that. Other than that, I'll spare myself the embarrassment and just continue to try and keep pimping and looking good.

I have been challenged in terms of having the best sound system.....I would have people pull up and hear my music on volume 45 and I would see them turn theirs up. I look at them and laugh.....its sad to see how much ego people have

They may have me in straight away speed, but I enjoy the look in their eyes in their rear view mirrors when I catch and out corner them every time, and it doesn't matter what they are driving. They brake and I accelerate.

I thought it was funny, some cavalier w/ grey primer body kit, white hood, and a sewer pipe for exhaust pulls up next to me w/ it's windows down... I can hear the passanger talking to the driver "blah blah blah.. i hate those box POS..." Basicly trashing my car... So the light turns green and he churps it leaving... So i reved it out. Basicly racing him, and surprisingly enough I was walking away from them!! I couldnt believe it. So the next like I stopped (with ear to ear grin) and they pulled up both looking at my box... not a word... After of 10-20sec of aww, they started bashing harder than before. (Sour Grapes?)

I've been challenged a few times, but more so on the freeway. The xB may not be quick on a straightaway, but it's easy to maneuver between tight spaces.

I was running behind the other day and had to go about 150 miles.
I was very happy with the way it drove and passed whenever I wanted to.
Part of the way was 4 lane, part was 2 lane and I had no trouble
getting around other cars when I wanted to. Part of the time I went to
fourth to pass, most of the time didn't have to downshift. It is nice not
having to brake on curves.
So, I will have to disagree with it the posting that it didn't have enough power,
it got me where I wanted, when I needed to be there.
