i read somewhere that the color of your car is a status symbol over there...not sure if it was china or japan or if it was just asia in general...maybe somebody from over there can help me out on this one...like reds and bright colors are more expensive and so i guess if they did that they would have to raise the prices of our cheap cars...i probably have some of this info wrong but i will try to find the article that i read

Toyota is a very smart company. . .
They use something called JIT management, and apply it to selling cars too. . . basically holding an inventory is the most expensive part of car sales (cars depreciate).
So according to their market research/analysis, they picked the most popular colors, and stock them accordingly, by anticipated demand. Red is a color that sells relatively slow here, so that's why it is only a limited release. . .
There may be some who are p'd off, but trust me, Toyota is no fool. The customers who are satisfied by the resultingly lower prices and higher stock of high demand colors are very happy the way things are.
Too bad for us! But if you get a line up of a thousand people who all want a flashy color, ready to buy, I gaurantee you some new colors will come. Just complain to Toyota/Scion corporate, and who knows

Looking at that picture, if I had a xB in BSP I would find it a PITA to find if I walked away from it. The more color options you get, the more your car will stand out. Aint that something about scion? To bring in the kids, we like things different so give us colors are parents would hate.
That's speaking from a business side, see I am a businessman and a car enthusiast. The car enthusiast in me says MORE COLORS, but remember the GM catastrophe. . . too many colors + too many combinations + too many models = demand totally satisfied + slower sales = lower profits
Remember that profits are the bottom line in a business, not sales.
Yeah I could see that. Then why not offer some special colors, not just on RS cars, for like $250 more? When you order this color the dealer then would tell you straight up it wont be in for 2 months or something like that, because it will come straight from the factory not the port. That would make it better IMO. They would gain more money & would not cost them anything more because the car would only be painted that color when its ordered, so no need to stock any unless a dealer wants to do that.

Yeah, sounds like a great idea. . . I had to wait for my car, but I appreciated the ability to order exactly as I wanted from the Port. . .
Mmmmmm, custom paint jobs, with a warrantee! Now that sounds sweeeeet!!!!

I'd settle for -any- bright, lively color. It need not cost more nor be weird.
For instanced, the Echo is or was available in a really pretty "electric mica green" Wow, how it shimmered just right, not too much, in the full sun. A color of real beauty, life.
Compare to camo green- people who like it like it OK, but it is dark, somber, depressed compared to Electric Mica Green.
The Echo is TARGETED at a relatively conservative crowd. They get the lively green HUH?
The Scion xB is TARGETED at the youth market. They get the deadly dull depressed green. DOUBLE HUH!!!
There is no rhyme nor reason here, for the somber color choices for Xb at the current time. I'm still holding off my purchase not because the existing colors are awful- some are quite beautiful in the right light- but all can be criticized here and there as "somber dark" "copycat gray" or "boring white". No insults to any who favor those colors... its just HUH, why no electric mica green? Or if not that, even a sky bright blue. Or a gumball yellow. SOMETHING other than the next, distant limited edition release.
huh huh and more huhs. I am bemused bothered and annoyed by the mollasses slow response of Scion/Toyota to this most common of ALL scion complaints: No lively colors to buy after the run-through of the hot lava way-out orange edition

I settled for a Camo Green, because of availability and a couple of other reasons. At first, I thought it was kind of dull. Then I started playing around with decal ideas.
I designed a decal that uses the dark green as the perfect background. The main element is a stripe, wich is bright gold (orangy yellow) on the outside fading to burgundy in the middle. This stripe wraps the car. It is then punctuated with burgundy ovals outlined in offwhite pinstripes with our bright gold logo in them.
I'll try to take pictures tomorrow and post them.
People love to customize these cars. So stop whining and start designing!

Scions are meant to be customized... So get to work! Quit waiting for Toyota to completely trick the car out for you from the factory!
Personally, I love my xB.... BLACK on chrome! That's all I need!

From what I have heard Maaco = Crap. Also the basic paint job is just that, they only paint the out side of the car. If you open the hood or any other part that is painted body color, you will see what the factory color was.
