Does this dude have any stated preferences, or is he willing to buy any new xB on the lot? If there's absolutely none on the lots, it simply seems that Toyota is selling them faster than they're shipping them (at least to your region).

And yes, from the recent sales figures I've seen, and anecdotal evidence (such as my having to wait for several weeks to get my TCM manual xB), the xBs are quite hot sellers right now.

That's funny, I had to get mine in Ohio for lack of commitment by the dealer here in PA.

My advice: use the dealer search option on the Scion web site and increase the radius of the search area until you find what you want. That's how I found mine. I was able to see about 96 dealers' web sites in about 2 hours (DSL connection), and maybe 2/3 of them had searchable inventories. I'd just get the color and transmission you want, then ask for it to be customized there or on your own if you're adventurous. My Ohio dealer did about 1/2 the work there, and I did about 1/2 at home; the price was the same.

Found out today, Scion does this to make sure they don't have a lot of them sitting around. At a show today I had one sold to a guy I was talking to and led him over to a salesman. He was told he'd have to order it due to nothing "on the lot". I wonder how many people are willing to do business like this?

We were lucky when we got ours I guess. Not too many Scion owners around here so we bought both of ours straight off the lot, didn't have to wait to order them. I was really surprised when we saw an RS 2.0 show up and no one had ordered it or put a hold on it before we got to it. The PW xB had 44 miles on it when we got it and the RS 2.0 had 20 miles on it.

Default Its all about the allocation....

The dealerships have relationships with the regional reps for Scion. This can either hurt them or help them. I ordered a BSP manual from one dealer. I was called and told it was in transit. I was called 2 weeks later to tell me that I could get the Camo or the BCP if I wanted it.....HUH? I called another dealer that I had just talked to and within 3 weeks, I had my BSP. The dealer that deliverd has an outstanding relationship with the rep for Scion, is recognized nationally as a great dealer and explained IN DETAIL the ordering and allocation system...its different than ordering any other car out there. Just make sure you are willing to be patient if you want something specific. Make sure the dealer is honest and you can check that out here on Scion Life. Just ask around...it won't take long to see whos got it and who doesn't. Good Luck.

I got lucky. The dealer where I bought mine had a new shipment came on over the weekend. Contacted the Sales guy on Monday and got my RS 2.0 xB that night.

I was just about to post a related question on here. I ordered my xB on the 10th and the dealer said it won't be in until the end of the month. I thought that was rediculous since I am getting a pretty stock xB (just fog lamps and spoiler). The dealer's lot has 4 of the RS2 on lot. I bet they are thinking that people would be willing to pay more and buy the added package that makes it a RS2 just so they can drive it off the lot. I think it is ridiculous. If I was a dealer i would at least TRY to keep one of every color (or at least 2/3 of the colors) on the lot. How many people just drive to other dealerships that have the car they want? I am not going to buy something I don't want so I guess I should have driven the hour to Indy to find a camo xB. I guess I was too lazy, oh well.

Well I personally wouldn't have bought my xB if it wasn't yellow.

don't get me wrong, i think dealers are scam artists too, but just not all of them.

the dealership i got mine from back in december said they had a few on the lot mid 2004 and had little interest. then all of a sudden bam, everybody wants one.

i was fortunate to walk on the lot and they had just gotten two the day before (my PW and a TCM). the TCM lasted about a week and then was gone and when i went back about 3 weeks later they'd just gotten a couple more on the lot.

i honestly think, that there are some Toyota/Scion dealers who still don't realize how popular these "funny looking boxes" are and haven't made the necessary adjustments to their inventory practices to ensure they have them in stock. and then there are the smart dealers who have realized the craze and taken the steps to ensure they always have a decent variety available.

When i bought mine i waited a month for it to show up... now the dealership has almost alyways at least 5 or so on the lot. and they have gotten 3 of the rs2.0 xb's somehow.
They (toyotaworld) are located in newark, DE . if you want to take a trip and not have to wait and if you decide to go tell them John Lehne refered you so i can get another $50.

Yea, back in August the dealership I went to in Raynham, Ma. had them all over the lot. There was alway at least 2 or 3 of them in the front on prominent display with a minimum of like 6 on the lot itself. I have gone back a few times since and I don't see any...on the lot or on display......WTF?
