Default window decal sticker application steps?

so i've got a few decal stickers i'd like to put on my rear side windows but i got a very vague explination from my freind of how to apply them... "you'll need a spung", thats all i got out of him. can someone please clear this up for me?

obviously have the place of application nice and clean, thats done already, just need to know what to do. it's work on almost 70 right now so the heat is perfect.

The word is "sponge":

A porous mass of interlacing fibers the forms the internal skeleton of various marine animals and usable to absorb water or any porous rubber or cellulose product similarly used.

You can use it to force out the bubbles when you apply your decal . . . .

ok so what the hell did i do wrong... i just ruined the whole thing when trying to get it out of the transfer tape. i was told b others to cafefuly remove it from the transfer tape, so carefuly i did, what happens? the transfer tape doesn't let go and rips the decal. i tryed the SPONGE *i don't give a damn about my spelling as long as the thought gets through* to soften the paper and all that does is ruin the glue and defeats the whole purpose of trying to stick it to anything in the first place. and when i mean carefuly, i spent an hour and half trying to get that thing to go and all it did was rip the **** out of the decal.

what is the method, step by step, word for word cause now i'm a little irratated and i have to not only wait a week until more are made but i have to drive an hour to an hour and half *one way* just to get them.

very simply....
start with a corner of the decal.. very carefully peel the decal away from the backing ( there are 3 peices to a decal- top layer, decal, and bottom backing)
once the bottom backing is removed, line up the decal on a clean suyrface..
apply decal at one end, and using a squeegee or credit card, carefully press the decal taking care not to make too many air bubbles... use the squeegee or card to press out any air bubbles that you have, or take a tiny pin, and pop the bubbles, and press them down to remove the bubble.. once all is applied and good, start at a corner, and carefully remove the top layer... you may notice that some of the decal comes up off the surface at this point... use the squeegee or card to press it back down...
decal 101
for gods sake, don't use a sponge and water, this aint a temp tattoo...
if you can't get it right, go to a trained pro at a sign shop or any idiot you find on the street with some patience...

thats exactly what i did, all it did was rip the decal right in half. i tried a damp sponge to try and soften it's grip to the decal so i could get it off easier but it still wouldn't let go.

ok, heres an example of what happened, i went to take the bottom layer off so i can start the application. it was like two piece of duct-tape where both sticky sides had touched togethere and you're trying to seperate the two with something fragile in between them. thats what happened, i think whoever did the transfer tape, did it wrong because i've SEEN people apply decals before but never did one my self and to them it was like having a 3 part sticker, mine wasn't willing to do that.

The best way to apply a decal:

1. Clean Surface. If its on glass, use glass cleaner to clean it. If on paint, use a prep type chemical to remove any dirt or wax on surface.

2. Get a little Spray bottle, put a drop of soap in bottle, fill with water.

3. Spray surface with soapy water. (The water will allow you to easily reposition decal if necessary, and soap will make it slide around easier, and make removing bubbles easier, with less chance of damaging the decal)

4. Use Squegee (Or if you dont have one, a credit card) to push any small bubbles out. Start from middle of decal, and then push to outwards.

Thats how the pros do it. I work at a Sign Shop, Ive seen countless decals/graphics installed.

Sounds like the stickers were old or they were left where it was really hot for the paper to stick to its self that way...

THAT HAD TO BE IT! i had my freind pick it up for me and it was sitting in his car for a couple days before i got it and being it's been about 70-75 outside the past few days, i wouldn't doubt the 110 degrees inside the car would do that sort of thing.

If it really is a decal not a vinyl transfer, the way I always did it was to soak the decal and backing paper in a bowl of luke warm water for a minute or so (until the decal gets loose on the paper and will slide around on it) then place the decal and paper against the surface, slide the backing paper away, and using your sponge, very carefully smooth the bubbles out from under the decal. Let dry.

If it's vinyl instead of an actual decal, then follow the usual vinyl instructions.
