Default Woohoo!

Tomorrow I will be getting my new Blue Onyx Pearl xB! I am so excited. I finally talked my parents into letting me get a new car. After looking at VW GTI's for about a week, I got tired of only finding ones that were under $15k, but had 70k+ miles on them. I test drove the xB a few days ago, and I have to say that I absolutely love it! I am getting an automatic though, mostly because right now I can only somewhat drive a manual. I think it might be better for me so I can concentrate more on steering and watching out for crazy people than being worried about shifting all the time.
Anyways, I hope to see some of you at some events soon with my newly modded xB.
I am thinking of getting a license plate that says "XBOX" if it isn't already taken.

Anyone have any suggestions for some mods I should get? I have been looking at the carbon fiber hoods with the scoops, and I think I might get one of those after I get some custom rims. Does anyone have any negative comments on the hoods?

Congrats on your BOP xB. As for potential mods, depends on what kind of budget you're looking at, and if you're more into "bling", "zing", or some combo of the two.

A cf hood (with or without a scoop) on an xB is definitely bling. Won't really save anything significant in weight, but it'll look cool. For the same amount of money, I'd suggest investing in a set of lowering springs and maybe a front STB instead.

Wheels are a definite must-have. Springs combined with a nice 17" or 18" package dramatically changes the looks of these cars, and make them handle better as well. So in that respect, you get bling and zing together!

Enjoy your box!

Congrats - what a great 1st car!!! Props to your parental unit ..................

Can't really say much more on the mods other than do what you like and makes your box unique to you!

Enjoy

Well I did have a 93 VW Passat GLX, but it broke down on me yesterday. Good timing for the damned thing to break down, lol. I am going to just trade it in towards the xB unless my mechanic wants to buy it. So in about 5 hours I will be cruising around Austin, Tx in my new xB. :D

Like people said, its all about what you want to do with it. I would recommend thinking things through before buying this part and that. IMO, it's best to go with a theme so to speak. Like the xB I saw in Tracy with the power ragtop. He had wire spoke wheels and it complements the look. My wheels tend to look more racey, so the ragtop wouldn't look right on my ride. I am dying to get a CF hood, but to me, that one with the scoop looks totally wrong for the Box, it just looks out of place and not functional at all. If it was a reverse scoop or better yet, offset so it was nearer the actual intake box, then maybe it would appeal more. It just looks like an old style applied to something new that doesn't benefit from it.

But that's me. If it fits into your vision of your xB, then go for it.

It's like this old cartoon I recall.

Man and woman in the bedroom, man drops trousers. Woman says, disappointed "Well, who do you expect to please with THAT thing?"

The guy, with a smile, says "ME"...

I just ordered some altezza lights and a carbon fiber strut bar. I also ordered the blue pedal covers and the rear bumper protector from the dealer, and I had some blue turn signal lights that go on a rear view mirror. I will post pictures here when I get these all installed.

Also, how do you guys think these wheels will look on a blue xB? I am thinking that the blue on the rims are lighter than the body paint and will make it look funny.

It is either these or some carbon fiber wheels from Armano (GT5).

Turn signals on the mirrors sound cool! I have just been noticing them and was wondering how they do that, is it easy and where do you get them?

The BOP is pretty dark so, maybe the others would be a better compromise.

Congrats on your new ride and have fun! :D

You can go there and order any of those. They are universal for all cars. All you do is pass the wires behind the mirror and into the door and then they attach somewhere were all the other wires are inside your car. Shouldn't be too hard to do, but they will look super nice.

Oh on the rims, I found out you can paint that part to match your car's color. I am definitely doing those!
