Would it be a sin?
Would it be a sin to powdercoat the bb rear step plate? The reason I ask is I have some scratches on my back step, I like the bb step plate but I have no crome on my Xb.

Get someone to cut some vinyl in the color you want to cover the step and see what you think. At least then if it does not work out you are not out the money for powdercoating.

as for the powdercoating, I don't think it would handle the heat honestly and all the acid dipping etc etc....One thing is take it to a body shop and have them paint it the color of your choice, or if your a DIY'er, you could just spray it yourself, if you want a durable flat black look, plati-cote sells a nice "trim black" paint, that is really durable if you want to do that...or theres always the sandpaper bumper gaurd from america scion ;-) its your car, "f" what people say and if you like it, do it, be happy with it
do what i did and use vinyl ive got two layers red and then c/f over it, i wish mine was a little wider but it serves its purpose, granted it wont protect it as well as metal but if you scratch or rip your vinyl its keep to replace it.
