Default Would You Do This?

My wife and I are planning a trip from FL. to MN.----(about 3000RT)---we normally take the diesel pick-up and pull the RV-------but next summer we would like to take the xB. Would you do that???? We have only taken it on a 350 mile RT once and thought it was comfortable enough and certainly economical enough to make the trip to Minnesota. What do you think????

Don't worry...you'll be fine with the box. I've driven mine CA to TX 4 times and no headache whatsoever.

It does great on long distance trips, if you don't have it get the cruise control.

For a less bouncy ride, consider replacing just the rear shocks with softer ones. Very quick and easy to do with SL's illustrated thread in the Tech features.

Either Monroe SensaTracs, about $65/set from local auto stores, Sears, etc.

Or for the best ride, Konis from LTB Motorsports
http://www.ltbmotorsports.com/scion.html
Rear Yellow Sport 80-2827
Regular price: $140.00/set. Sale price: $96.60
I think shipping is free with the current sale.

I did a 1000 mile round-trip a few months back. Granted that's a 1/3 of your trip, but it was still a long drive and not bad at all. Cruise would have been nice on some of the flat/empty parts, but I'd do it again.

But you shouldn't have any problems, other than if you dont mind saving some money on gas.... and cruise control a must...

I've been from Salem, MA to Miami, FL and back (3K rounded). 215-40-18's, lowered and loaded with gear still made great mileage. Only problem was the girlfriend in shotgun.

I say rip it up and take a lot of pictures.

Sounds like you would be fine. As long as you don't plan on hauling the RV with the box =/.

^^^^^ Haha, girlfriend in shotgun.... Ya know, you could always keep her busy. Oops! PG-13 post!

i would opt for the larger vehicle. i think the xB is perfectly safe etc. for the highway, but i find the ride to be too jittery after an hour or so.

Hi,,,well I do my trips simlar, but I drive the RV and tow the XB,,,,
I take it you have a tag-a-long or a 5th wheel RV?

The great thing to me is we sleep in "our" bed, no unpacking the trunk for luggage, or what ever and then repacking again to depart.....
To each his own,,,,
