Thumbs down Wrecked this morning

It sucks, but at least I'm ok.

Tried going around a car that was going slow, obviously they were moving slower than I thought. I clipped them in the rear, so I'm sure the wreck is my fault. No one was hurt.

^x2 I had that same thing happen when I was trying to pass a car, but the situation was in rush hour traffic. Since it was the second time it was hit in the same front corner insurance totalled the Corolla. The Sebring convertible just had a dent in the bumper and the muffler tip was bent down.

Thanks everyone.

I know it's hard to discern from pics, but do you think it's totalled? I have full coverage, the person I hit had no insurance, he didn't even have a current license! It did very minimal damage to his car

glad you're okay. if you want my opinion i would say it's a close call. i would say totalled, but i hoped i'm wrong. you're looking at a new hood, windshield, probably struts, and spring, probably a completely new front end suspension, everything in the steering, radiator, fenders, whatever else is in the front there, fan, it just doesn't look good. if you have full coverage though you can buy another one which probably won't replace your old one for sentimental reasons, but it's a start. when will you know if it's totaled or not? with how overpriced parts are for these cars or how high they seem to be that won't help.

also even if it was your fault the person in the other car had no business driving without his license, or an unregistered car. hope it turns out well for you, and glad you're okay.

yeah, that box is probably totaled.

and yeah, while that other person might not of had valid license or insurance etc, you're still legally liable for the accident. you're insurance policy will owe for his damages and injuries if he has any. make sure to drive carefully and learn from this experience.

A crapload of damage, but at least you're doing fine. I had a close call like that passing a guy on the freeway a couple days ago, nearly clipped him, I'm sure i had less than 12 inches of clearance.

I hope they fix it. I love the car. Hope it didn't damage the supercharger.

But, If I gotta get another car sobeit.

I appreciate everyone's help, concern and advice. I just have to wait and see if they deem it repairable.

I"ll keep ya posted

That's totalled. I would not want it back, too much chassis damage. It will never be 100% straight if they fix it. Sorry bud. Start yanking everything you want to keep if you can get to it.

Me thinks it was more than just a "clip" and I would say the toaster is toast. Strip it and build another.

And trying to use the pit maneuver with a plastic bumper is a no no.

LOL, yeah I was trying to PIT him! Funny thing is the lady who was in the car kept asking for all my info (which I had no problem giving)- she had no license or insurance,

WHATEVA!

yeah, but keep in mind, YOU rear-ended them. point blank. looking at the photos, it looks more like you were FLYING down the road and tried to go around them at the last minute since there is THAT much damage to your box dude.

you can keep talking about how you're properly insured and she doesn't even have a valid policy or driver's license, but in the world of insurance claims, that does not change your liability for being responsible for her damages. with that much damage to your box, i wouldn't be surprised if she makes a bodily injury claim. then with her settlement, she can buy proper insurance.

and it is all thanks to you!

The wreck was my fault, no doubt. State Farm will be paying for their car, to which there was almost no damage. I wasn't going that fast. The impact to my car just hit in a sweet spot where there is no bracing or frame really. I wish I could have got a picture of their car, but I didn't want to "invade their privacy" or whatever.

Should find out in the next couple days if they're gonna fix it.

^You gotta have pictures of everyone's car involved, helps in determining whatever it is that needs to be. I wasnt able to get pics of the other person's car when my 07 tC got hit because they turned onto the next street then walked over to where I was, asked if I was hurt then just walked back and took off in their car. They did get found though because I was able to describe the car.

well..if she didnt have a license and didnt have insurance..she should not have been there in the first place..a leg to stand weakly on perhaps?

though you did rear end her

going to be a close call on wether they total or not...depends on the depreciation and the cost of repairs not exceedinga percentage of the current value of your box
your insurance adjuster can tell you what that percentage is
from there you can figure if it's a total or not

sorry, i'm actually a claim adjuster with a major insurance carrier. regardless of whether or not that vehicle was legally registered, insured or if the other driver is legally allowed to drive, your insurance policy will still owe their damages if you're at fault for an accident.

you can rear-end a drunk driver, and even if the police show up to arrest the drunk driver, you're insurance policy is still going to have to pay to fix the drunk driver's car.

So, it runs still?
