Default XB engine making a horrible noise

I have an 06' XB with every thing under the hood stock, and the engine is making a terrible sorta higher pitched screeching noise that I noticed lately when its on. I have kept up on the vehicles oils and filter maintenances, but for some reason its making this noise. Its no a buzz, rattle, or hiss... its like the sound of metal parts screeching together. Any ideas of whats causing this??? Is there something that I can just lube and quiet the thing back down?? Car runs fine just this noise makes it sound like its a POS. Please help thanks :-)

Here is a crappy video from my phone but maybe it will help so how.

i thought at first it might just be a belt squal but i don't hear that at all in the video. honestly, the sound quality of the video doesn't really show the sound you are talking about all that well. wish i could help :-(

hopefully someone will come along with some experience with this noise by the description you gave alone.

A/C compressor, water pump or a pulley?
What side of the engine is it coming from? Do you have the a/c on?

get a big long screwdriver...the longer the better

use it like a stethascope..you can put your ear on the handle and the tip on whatever you want to listen to...like the a/c compressor..water pump etc etc...

it will help you isolate the sound....

Sounded louder on the driver side... Check the air intake for leaks? If it is a metal sound, open the oil cap and see if that metal plate is damaged. I read a post about a fast lube place breaking it off. Take it to the dealer if it's still under warranty.

I think my PS makes a noise. Usually if I'm cranking the wheel full lock, and the car is cold.
That sounds like what you describe above.
