LONG BEACH, CA
Driver in high-speed chase ID'd as Signal Hill woman.
A 47-year-old Signal Hill woman who allegedly tried to run over Long Beach police officers during a high-speed freeway chase to Orange County was behind bars Saturday.
Peggy Ann Boesing was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer and felony evading, said Long Beach Police Officer Jackie Bezart. She was being held in lieu of $75,000 bail, according to the Sheriff's Department.
At about 6:05 a.m. Friday, officers responded to calls of a "woman screaming" at Orange Avenue and Bixby Road, Bezart said.
According to police, Boesing tried to run over arriving officers with her gray Scion and before speeding off.
The California Highway Patrol joined as the chase continued at speeds in excess of 100 mph onto the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway and then onto the eastbound Garden Grove (22) Freeway.
At one point, the woman made "doughnuts" along a roadway, stopped and got out of the vehicle, gestured angrily at officers and ran back into the driver's seat as her car began to roll forward.
The chase ended near Oso Parkway shortly before 7 a.m., when several patrol vehicles boxed in her vehicle, and pulled her out through the window of her vehicle..
Long Beach police took custody of Boesing while CHP officers impounded her vehicle, Bezart said.
The results of sobriety tests were unavailable.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Long Beach Police Department at 562-435-6711.
