Default xB going up in price again

Effective with the cars built in mid-December, the price of the xB is going up by $150. These cars will be arriving on the West Coast in late December and in the East in mid-January. The new price for an xB automatic will be $15,370.

We just got the official announcement today.

There is new equipment. They will now have radio controls on the steering wheel and will also have new "smart" airbags.

Will the new radio control-equipped steering wheel be compatible with the "older" 2006 xBs?

And if so, should I be complaining to my Scion dealership to get give me one?

So than the Manual Trans will only be $14,370? This is easily going to be taking the xB's close to $20,000 with the aditional options. The scions keep getting more and more expensive, I wouldnt be suprised if the tC eventually gets to $18,000 base price. Ohwell, guess I'll have to dish out a couple $100 more next year when I get my shadow mica xB.

They can't retro-fit the cars. The stereos will be identical, but the only difference is the controls on the wheel.

You just have to learn to live without the steering wheel controls. It's going to cost more to have one installed in, than purchasing a new one with that 150 dollar increase.

You just can't slap in the steering wheel with the controls, probably will be a _____ to do the wiring. You'll probably be charged more than the 150 that is added to the price of a new one.

yeah this kind of makes hulk mad...one downfall to upgrading my stereo to the ipod capable stereo is having to lean over and changing songs when a bad one comes on. I do wonder if someone can just buy a new steering wheel with the controls on them and get it installed

Will the controls even include "track advance?" The one car I had with steering wheel controls, all it controlled was colume, source, and audio mute.

RS packages will be roughly $200 more than the past so i hear.

They will continue to go slightly up in price because when the 2007' replacement comes out i hear it will be about a $1,000-$1,500 more than the current box.

*raises hand* I hear nothing wrong w/ the stock HU and I have over 3 years of music training in college under my belt. Anyways, I will be very ticked off if this news is correct as I would have probably waited to get my xB if I would have know.

I will get the steering wheel controls somehow.

i'm sure it's not a lie. sell yours.... you will make profit....

by the new one with steering controls it'll be worth it if you care about that option and like the non equilization adjustable weak stereo.

Default ipod capable stereo?

Can i get the ipod upgrade (without the steering wheel controls) from my dealer for the option price of $260? Does this include labor?

Yes it includes labor. Extra labor comes into play with "performance" upgrades, like the TRD exhaust. Everything else is pure priced. You pay what you see listed.

I do. And as a professional musician and music producer for 35 years, I say it's quite satisfactory.

You can only do this at the time of purchase. If you already have the base stereo, you can't upgrade it for $260. I honestly don't know the actual cost, but I think its somethere in the $600 range. The dealer get a credit for the orginal stereo, but once it has a stereo, they can't apply for another credit so you pay the full cost of the new one. You do keep the old one in this case though.

Music training has nothing to do with keeping a crummy stock radio, even with an ipod gimmick. Toyota is a business, they have to introduce new features to get new buyers - you aren't going to find a sympathetic dealer to just give you new items because you're sad. LOL
