Wow, I think it's great! Is it really finished underneath the kit or does it require bodywork and painting. I'd love to convert my "milk truck" into a retro SUV like a ****** Overland Wagon, Land Cruiser, Cherokee classic, etc.

I bought the box for the boxiness, but I had no desire for an urban, lowered, pimped-out ride. But with the kit removed, roof rack, custom grill work, and some other little tweaks, it could dramatically change the appearance. (no, I have no plans to go off-road with it)

Maybe I'm just trying to make my own 4-door Samurai.

It looks OK under the side skirts, but if you take off the front and rear lips the bumpers look unfinished. It would be nice if someone would make "short lips" for the front and rear, but I'm not holding my breath. Seems like everyone prefers the "scraping on every speedbump" look.

I did some searcing and the more I see it, the more I like it.

About the only bad thing, and this is minor, is that the exhaust just kind of hangs there out back. I guess with the right exhaust it wouldn't look bad.

The one nice thing about the factory kit is that it stops the rocker panels from getting rock chips. The side skirts might get chipped, but the chips will be underneath and out of sight, and the skirts won't corrode.

What I would like is shorter skirts front and rear, and keep the side skirts the same.

j-so, thank you so much for the detective work. I LOVE the blue one with the baby moons and whitewalls. I agree... I liked the first photo I saw, but I like it even more now.

I dig this kitless xB too... is this something I can do myself (removing them) or is it body shop kind of stuff?

from what i'm seeing it looks like the kit was an option. maybe on the 1st gen bb they were an option. that would make sense as to why there are so manty with out the kit. also, the silver one has a different lip on the front that looks clean as hell!
