Default XB REAR HATCH HANDLE

I haven't posted since I was scurring around for a bed liner for my XB delivery vans. I found a man who had worked with fiberglass at Disneyworld and he made liners for the back for deliveries. It has worked like a charm. I HAVE A NEW PROBLEM! Has anyone had the rear handle on the XB break? I Have 2 2004's and I have had to replace one, twice and the other one , three times. Internally it is a plastic socket clipped over a metal ****, the plastic breaks and the entire mechanism has to be replaced. My drivers a very careful (because they have to use the side doors if it's broken) so this is not a case of abuse. I have to admit that the hatch is opened and closed some 20-30 times a day. I contacted Scion and they say that it is not a common problem...anybody else having this problem, so I can go back to Scion and tell them they're full of IT!
Thanks, J

Not heard of it at all. I think it's just not made for the duity
cycle you are putting it through?

Maybe get some remote "poppers" or basically selenoids
that are keyfob controlled to pop the lock rather then the
handle?

Or since it's an electric switch, maybe a remote keyfob with
a relay is all you need? That way the only moving part is the
popper that's built in, and you won't wear and tear the handle?

Oh yeah, got some photos of those liners?
I'd really like to see what you did!

I've not heard of it either. Funny - when I first got my car I went to the flower shop to get my wife some roses and the guys there were eyeing it for a delivery car ;-)

I'd like to see the liner too!

Thanks for the responses. The doors are on auto unlock, but just lifting the handle breaks it. They even tried just lifting from the door but I had to replace the last one in less than 3 weeks. yes 20-30 opening & closing per day is alot but we aren't abusive. On the picture of the liner...as soon as this old grey-haired lady learns to use the digital, I'll find someone to upload the picture. Thanks
